A modern “C”-shape at the new genuine bone nut, the profile morphs along the length of the neck to a modern “D”-shaped profile at the updated neck heel, providing plenty of comfortable support for fret hand antics. I bought this as a scratch and dent, and the 2 scratches were very light, hard to see, and of zero consequence. Everything about the bass felt right, straight out of the box. My previous bass was Fender American Deluxe, and I sold it for financial reasons, much to my regret. This bass is everything that bass was, and more, so in retrospect I am glad I was able to upgrade. The Deluxe battery died once right before a gig and created some last minute running around, so the passive switch here could help in a pinch. I can't resist the big sound in active mode though, so the switch will be emergency use only. Everything about the bass just feels right. It plays fast, it plays easy, it is versatile, it feels balanced, and looks gorgeous. .I love this thing. The noiseless active pickups are awesome (much to my surprise). Take the time to set it up and you'll never play a better feeling bass. Sound possibilities are endless with the Treble/Bass EQ
