Been playing about 16 years and have tried several different brands of amps, Peavey. Fender, Roland, Dean Markley and a Pignose just for the fun of it. Some I still have. But this Champion 20 is just sweet for a practice amp! Thought about getting the 40 but the 20 amp suits my needs best. Great usable amp modeling and effects, easy to dial in the sound you want. Great strong sound from a fairly small package. Responsive to the degree of pick attack. I compared the Champion 20 to the Mustang I. I preferred the simplicity of the Champion. Didn't need all the techno bells and whistles. The open back seems to have more depth of sound than the closed back Mustang. If it got stolen I would not hesitate to replace it with another Champion.

.As the bassist in the band I wanted a small guitar amp for practicing my 6 string and doing my home recordings. I tried a Line 6 but took it back, too much malarky to wade through for too little return. I was weary of the Mustang and Peavy for the same reason. The Champion 20 is easy to use, perfect for those of us who want to dial it in, not spend hours fooling with half arsed presets or creating new ones. Plug in and tweek your sound on the dials, the way it's always been done.

The "amp models" are really just tone variations and you dial in the basic models. Let's face it you're not getting a true Tweed or blackface sound from an 8" solid state amp, ain't happenig. You can get a those "style tones" but it's more about just having options in sound. Good sounding basic effects as well. In amateur recording it sounds worlds better than trying to use amp models and basic effecs in my DAW.

I gig as a bass player so I won't perform with this amp. If I did a guitar gig I would not hesitate to bring this to a small coffee house type setting. Or even mic into it for a slightly larger venue.

Small enough to carry around the house or throw into the car for a little show. Loud enough to be heard. Very attactive classic Fender styling.

Overall I call this the best amp I've found in the price range. Excellent value.

.The Princeton Voice is my favorite; and, it's right on the money with my actual Princeton Reverb Amp. The other voices are also on the money. If you record at home, or in the studio, you will love the Champion 20, its convenience and it's portability. Simply setup an SM57 aimed precisely at its 8-inch speaker, and you will love what you record. It's an excellent value in my opinion. Oh yes. One more thing. I've been a player for more that 50 years. :)

.I've been a Fender fan for years. I had purchased a "Princeton 65" some years ago and have been very happy with it. I can say the same about this little "Champion" it really lives up to its name. I just wish I had the same features and effects on my Princeton. It has plenty of power for smaller venues and practice and makes even a amateur picker like me sound almost professional.

.This is a very versatile amp. & is useful in many ways. I have 2 other brands I've been using, but strongly prefer the sound of the Fender Champ over the others for both acoustic & lead use. My only complaint is the power switch should be in front. It's a bit inconvenient on the back. Also the aux/earphone jacks should be 1/4" instead of 1/8". Everything else is perfect, at least for me.
I am a VERY experienced musician & picky about my sound, but I give this top rating.

.I bought this amp because it had many features of more expensive amps. I hooked this amp to my big sound system and the results are great. The system sounds like a much more expensive Fender amp. I am very satisfied.

.Ordered This Little Power Box on the 15th, Received it on the 17th amazing shipping from Custom Guitar's Friend. For the Size and the Price This Amp is Awesome. The Clear Channel is just that Clear, and so many different sounds and speeds to choice from. The Delay is wonderful as with the reverb. I couldn't be Happier. This is a good Amp for Just about any type music. Of course its small and Its not Concert Grade, but It comes through Loud and Clear. If you want a small Light Weight Good Sounding easy to Use Amp. Then Give this one a go. You will not be disappointed.

.I love the sound and the ease of getting the right sound
Fender Champion 20 Guitar Combo Amp Black
.This amp is quite loud, but lacks the real Fender tone of their previous models. It has numerous features, but overall just lacks the real sound I wanted, so I sent it back. In fact the 40 watt. as well as the Mustangs seemed to completely lack the Fender tone, such as what the Sidekick, Twin Reverb, Showman, etc...produce. It is not something that depends on size, but is a characteristic tone that these amps do not have. I know there is nothing in this price range to produce that sound, so you must pay more if you really want it.

.The 20 Combo is a nifty little affordable guitar amp. I am completely happy with this amp and would recommend it to anyone not requiring a really powerful event unit.
