I have played bass for almost 35 years but this was my first 5 string. I'm not saying this sounds like beloved jazz bass, but it gets a very acceptable sound and was a great inexpensive way to dip my foot into the 5 string market.
Not much in the way of features, as a starter bass should be this one is pretty straight forward. One tone knob, one volume knob, and one pickup. Pretty simple
I did have to replace both pots within 3 months of buying this bass & I had to replace the jack after the first time I gigged out with it. That said the neck is solid, the action is very playable. I read another review where someone said that they were unable to adjust the neck. I would reccomend that they find a more qualified tech to work on their instruments, because I have now done 3 seasonal adjustments on the truss rod with no issues
A five string bass that I have gigged out with numerous times for less than $200.00, how can that be anything but a fantastic value.

.Bought this a little while ago from my local music store. I don't call myself a "bass player" per say, my main instrument has always been drums, but I wanted a bass to play around with. I decided I wanted a 5-string to suit my needs as far as musical style went (I love metal and progressive metal) and this thing felt great for the modest price tag. I still play it, though I am looking to add a 4-string to my arsenal, and this does sound and feel good. It played well out of the box, good action and whatnot, and it's a comfortable bass to play. The neck is very thin, so accessing the B-string is no problem at all. If you are starting bass like I was and have determined you want a 5-string, or if you want to add a 5-string to your collection without spending too much, this thing plays great and I would recommend.

.I will be staying away from this one.
Not much in the way of features, but I didn't care. I just wanted a simple 5 string to play with
I went through 2 of these and they both had the same problem. Action was sky high, and could not be adjusted because the truss rod could not be moved at all.
The price is right, but that doesn't matter because this thing is unplayable.

.I first played this bass while shopping for an inexpensive 5- or 6-string at the GC in Tulsa OK. I tried several other makes but kept coming back to the Ibanez, with its monster PFR pickup, Soundgear neck, and butt-kicking gritty sound. Its low price shows in the details though - for example, the lightweight bridge transfers a lot of vibration between strings when playing slap. On the underside of the neck, the ends of the frets needed to be filed down - they were sharp enough to draw blood before filing. On the whole, this is a very good bass guitar, especially for the money. Highly recommended.

.I've only been playing bass for roughly 6 months. With that being said, the neck has good playability and isnt to thick. makes it easy to play the low b string. Has a good sound and for the price you can't go wrong. Running it through all kinds of amps it still sounds good. I've dropped it a few times with no dings in it. For a cheap 5 string bass, this is a great way to go.

.I went to my local GC and played the Ibanez GSR105ex and it to my ears beat out all the basses I played that day (Epiphone Thunderbird, Squier VM p bass, Ibanez SR300, and others) I'm steping up from a Yamaha RBX170 so I know what a good bass is when I play it. The GSR105ex like the Ibanez has a nice black finish, smooth frets, and superior versatility. I admit to being a metal head so a 5 string is sort of a no brainer but, all the ones I ever played had weak pickups or akward string spacing this GSR105ex has neither it's a nice wide flat neck reasonable spacing and a killer pickup that kick out major lows so this thing is a beast but, it can work for anything just use your amp settings and see what you get either way you get a monster.

.I bought this bass a year ago and started touring and gigging with it .i have recorded many songs with it as well,This ibanez bass feels so good especially the neck and the tuners. The pickup is pretty strong and this instrument is very good for slapping.I didn't get the playbility from any other bass.feels good!

.This is an excellent bass for the money, also for those who struggle with a five string this bass has the perfect neck to get use to the extra string. I have used this bass to play in venues, one thing I did to get the extra tones was to add a external MXR pre-amp box to bring out the extra tones, that worked perfect got big bass sound and extra treble if needed. The neck is the perfect length and the width of the neck is also a plus not too wide as other five string basses also its not taxing on the shoulders. I highly recommend this instrument also its fun to play.
