Product Features

As a mainstay of modern music, the “single cutaway” guitar is truly the stuff of legends. Variations have come and gone over the years, but few if any have held anything unique to justify their existence. With this as hindsight, Ibanez knew if it was to embark on creating its own interpretation of this classic, it would need to be a guitar that occupied its own place in the world of rock guitar. The ARZ lives up to this precept, taking the original iconic “single cutaway” design into a new dimension that’s totally in sync with the needs of modern guitarists.

The ARZ200FM is all about comfort, tone, and versatility. It begins with a choice mahogany body, capped with a sexy flamed maple top and is fitted with the Mahogany ARZ set-in neck. Brandishing a smooth 25” scale bound Rosewood fretboard, the ARZ neck offers an ultra-smooth heel for superb playability and unfettered access, right up to the 24th fret.

The ARZ200FM’s 25” scale length is also a plus for those who down-tune by providing more even string tension across the playing spectrum. This in turn, brings more life to the strings as well as increased sustain. A bound rosewood fretboard is embellished with bold block inlays and fitted with medium frets that enhance playing speed and optimize articulation.

The Ibanez ART-1 bridge is renowned for precise intonation and helps achieve rich, full sustain. Electronics include two Classic Elite humbucker pickups that generate punchy, super-tight sound, right down to the lowest notes. Case sold separately.

FIRST REVIEW ON THIS GUITAR WOO-HOO
Bought a mint condition return and it came without a single smudge. Its gray burst and is darker than the stock photo. In dull light you can barely see it (could be why it was returned??? just a guess).

Ok down to the real stuff. This neck is AWESOME! Like a PRS thin with an Ibanez flat radius fret board. It is sleek and definitely made for tuning down. C# works very well. The neck carve is very deep. It actually starts behind the front strap button. Action is set fairly low I had some buzz and raised the bridge a little bit.
The weight is similar to an ESP Eclipse. Pickups are just okay nothing spectacular. Tuners are fine for now. Input jack is recessed (which I like). Strap buttons are solid. Love the Quick Change tailpiece. Love the flip door on the truss rod cover. NO sharp frets. The nut had some sharp edges but its easy to round off with a small file. Bridge sits tight with no creaks or pops. Volume and tone knobs are rather tight but they are still new and may loosen up over time. Toggle switch could use some more resistance but does not feel like junk.

Small compaints: While playing my fingers were turning black from whatever is on the rosewood. Between string changes I rubbed down the fret board with some polish and an old rag then used lemon seed oil and let it soak in a few moments before wiping the excess off.
There are no jumbo frets. Really some jumbos would be great on this thing.
Future: Would like to see a floating trem model and more color options. Flamed blue with silver binding would be awesome.
I bought this guitar with the intention of modifying it. I'm looking at Lace Deathbucker pups, Schaller tuners, straplocks and bridge, different nut (have not decided on type), stainless jumbo frets, and upgraded pots.
If you like the Eclipse or other LP styles give this one a try.

.Great guitar for the price! I am an avid fan of ibanez guitar products. It's what you'd expect from ibanez. Quality. I've been itching to get a les paul but didn't want to pay the sticker shock price of les paul. And as you know there many les paul bells and whistles that come with les pauls and even epiphone models, which is licensed under the Gibson name. But I looked even at ESP models with same les paul designs but me being a ibanez girl , I stuck to my brand, looked at other ibanez models like Arzir20. Looked at reviews after reviews. Basically, did my homework. It depends on the player and how much you're willing to spend on a quality made instrument. I'm not paying top money for something when I can find a quality made guitar that sounds just as good if not better than any of these models I just mentioned. The neck is awesome, it plays like butter. I've been playing guitar for 45 years. Tested various different les pauls. I like this for the price and overall performance and looks can't beat it with a stick!!!

.Beautiful top rivaling my Gibson Les Pauls. The pickups are fantastic as well. As a nice surprise, the tone knob implementation is probably one of the best I've ever heard (I'll actually use it on this guitar). It doesn't make your bridge pickup muddy at all, just rolls off a bit of the highs (I'm comparing to my ~25+ other guitars). So that's a welcome surprise.

Not a con, but it's weighted pretty evenly from the head to the neck, so you might get a tiny bit of neck dive. However, since I have the 7 string version of this as well, it's not approaching that guitar's neck dive (not as bad as SG's I've played either).

For the money, this is an unbelievable bargain. I got the Cherry Sunburst. I'm probably going to go ahead and buy the Tri-Burst as well now since I'm so enamored (I'll have a cooling off period first).
