Product Features

The Schecter Damien Platinum 6 Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose has a double-cutaway mahogany body, set 3-pc maple neck, and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard. It's loaded with the classic combination of an EMG-81 active humbucker in the bridge position and an EMG-85 active humbucker in the neck position for all the heavy rock tones you need. Grover tuning machines with a Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo bridge allow for massive tremolo effects, as well as total tuning stability and tonal sustain. The electric guitar's appointments include bat inlays, multi-ply fretboard and body binding, and satin chrome hardware.

Grover tuners
ROTOMATICS WITH 18:1 GEAR RATIO (102-18 SERIES) The original Rotomatic with an improved higher ratio gearing. The 18:1 ratio provides for finer tuning and greater stability. The finer gears provide smoother tuning and a higher degree of backlash elimination

Rosewood fingerboard
The most common fretboard, Rosewood is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. The sound is richer in fundamental than Maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.

EMG Active 81/85 pickups
One of the most popular EMG's the 81 is the one that started a revolution. Utilizing powerful ceramic magnets and close aperture coils, the tone was designed with detailed intensity, incredible amounts of high end cut and fluid sustain. Traditionally used in the bridge position, this pickup will make your leads slice right through even the densest mix. When used in both neck and bridge positions the sound can only be described as blistering. Recommended pairings include the classic 81/85 setup.

3-pc Maple neck
Made with 3 pieces of maple for extra stability. 3 piece necks can withstand the test of time. Where standard necks may show aging defects from temperature and moisture changes throughout the years, the 3 piece neck will stay nice and straight for a lifetime of playability.

Have had this guitar for 6 months now. I was looking to get an ESP MH-1000 or Schecter Hellraiser but this had the same specs for way cheaper so I picked it up. I originally played it in store and it sounded great and looked great. The inlays are unique, the binding is awesome, and the matte finish feels great, although it gets scratched/glossed kind of easily. The Bridge stays in tune great for me and I use it in mostly E Standard and Drop-D with 10 gauge Ernie Ball strings through a Marshall MG15CFX or Jet City 22H + Randall 1x12 V30, and I use it to record either with the amp or my Line 6 Pod UX1 and VSTs. It sounds amazing. The neck can be annoying when playing faster rhythm sections [like the verse of Tornado of Souls, etc] but it feels great otherwise. The EMGs are heavy, although a bit sterile for my liking and I may replace them down the road with a Seymour Duncan JB/59 Combo, but if you're playing metal this guitar is great. It's my second guitar and it's helped me progress a lot. If you're a beginner or an intermediate guitar needing a workhorse for jamming with friends or recording, this guitar is wonderful and it's a total head turner, even if the bats run the risk of looking a little cheesy. [But the inlay material is beautiful and the inlays are well cut].

A year later and I've since replaced the pickups with a Duncan JB in the bridge and a Dimarzio Liquifire in the neck for taste. Way out of the honey moon phase I still love it. It feels great in my hands and I love playing it every time I do. The only things I've changed on it since I got it were the pickups and electronics. I play it almost every day and get great use of it. While the EMGs weren't bad and were even better when switched around (85 in the Bridge, 81 in the Neck), I still didn't like the sound personally and decided to go passive. I play this guitar mainly through my Jet City JCA22 and nail tones from 80s Hard Rock to 90's Megadeth to Children of Bodom tones, running it through a Boss SD-1 overdrive (overdrive is vital for any metal player!!). The bridge is getting a little bit of oxidation due to the FR Special being made of lesser quality materials than other models. That's really the only gripe I have with it AT ALL. Love Schecter's products and this was a killer bang for the buck. Would recommend this guitar to anyone. If I lost it I'd probably go for another Schecter - maybe one with passive pickups pre installed and with a Floyd Rose 1000/1500.

Oh yeah, side note, I want to add that I got a beautiful piece of rosewood on my fingerboard with great color and grain, much better than the one at the local GC. On the other hand, the 'platinum binding' on mine is starting to lose it's sheen and is starting to age into a more unattractive gray/yellow.
