This pedal brings some serious life to all other drive and distortion pedals in the chain that precede it. It gives solid "body" back to the gutting that distortion pedals naturally wage on the overall sound. It's an absolute necessary tweak within the chain. On its own, it is killer as well - with plenty of room for particular adjustments. I find this nano pedal a thing of awe as it brings out the beauty in my other pedals. Really nice creation. As with all things, there is a sweet setting that works for person A and a different sweet setting that works for person AA. Pleasantly puts the thick warm meat back on the anorexic distortion skelly. .Very transparent, cleans up nice with guitar volume. Not fizzy or brittle. Classic rock and blues...or todays country guitar sound is what you can expect. Tone control does more than just roll off the highs, it can actually add useful tone. Like most of us, I have a bunch of dist/OD pedals, always searching for that holy grail tone. Of course it is different for each of us, but after 30+ years, this is as close as I have come....so far.

I have 4 Strats and 2 Teles, play through a Fender Princeton 65
and a Fender Stage 1000 and used this pedal with all the combinations.
It sounds great and will fatten up yout tone!

Not to much and not a heavy metal type.
The pedal will also warm the sound to produce a more clear and better tone on a low sitting.
I would buy another if I had to.

.This pedal is awesome. The sound you get is just like playing threw a big tube amp.
The grit you get when you turn up the gain is from a light noticeable fuzz at 1 and to a dirt grinding overdrive at 10.

.I have been looking to replace this Hot Tubes pedal. My thought was, it was so cheap that surely there was something more appealing out there. I tried at least ten top of the line overdrive pedals and sent them ALL back. I don't know how to explain it. This pedal just makes it happen. It cuts yet at the same time it's smooth and has the versatility to go all the way to FUZZ! Now that's just crazy. No other pedal out there can match what this pedal does for the price, and even regardless of the price.
I use this as an always on pedal. I set it at about 11 o'clock and use it as my default sound. It slightly compresses the sound and makes it more musical as it creates the beginnings of tube amp breakup. When you crank it up you can play a ridiculous variety of music.
Suffice to say, that I have given up my search for the perfect overdrive. I had it all along.
The Hot Tubes does it all. Really. I still can't believe the price. Good on you EHX. Well done.
