This isn't an EQ pedal. It's insulting to compare it to something so simplistic. This is a tone shaping pedal. You can use this little wonder to make any guitar sound similar to almost any other guitar. Freaking amazing! If you're a tone freak like me, buy this pedal and start tweaking!

.I wanted an equalizer pedal and researched and debated about several different ones and then, in a last minute decision, bought this thing. My tone has improved tenfold and now without the Knockout my guitar just sounds flat to me. It's quiet, simple and the price is right. This was the secret sauce that I've been looking for. Thanks EHX, you win again.

.Really surprised this pedal is not more popular among guitar players. I found the EHX Knockout to be a great tool for sculpting your basic tone at the beginning of my signal chain. I love both Les Pauls and Stratocasters but could never find a tool to help get that "in between" sound of both guitars. The Knockout comes the closest to achieving that goal. It definitely removes much of the muddiness inherent in humbucker pickups while adding some of the sparkle found in single coils. This is a subtle pedal and if you max out any of the controls it sounds bad. If, however, you spend a little time to dial in the right mix of low-pass, dry, and high-pass filters you will be pleasantly rewarded. If you want to add some sparkle to your Les Paul style guitar I would recommend you give it a try.

.The Electro-Harmonix Knockout Pedal is seriously one of the most convenient pedals I've ever used! I'm not sure how to explain it...but it's the perfect secret to getting that perfect tone you have in your head! I've spent so much time with equalizers and boosters trying to get the right sounds out of my strat...but with this thing I sat down and dialed in a mighty Les Paul metal tone in moments! Some may find fault with the simple controls, but I think it only adds to the convenience! You don't have to sit for three hours playing with knobs and sliders. You just turn and go. I dig it.

.Swell desert island pedal-it does what they say it does just great. Here's my angle on it- it also works fab on an acoustic guitar with pickup going into an electric guitar amp (if you don't have an acoustic guitar amp). I tried it on my acoustic running into a Vox DA10 and it sounds wonderful. An acoustic guitar into a electric git amp otherwise sounds pretty honky and mid-rangy and unlovely but this pedal changes all that. Highly recommended for all sorts of applications. I bought a second one.

.I own a Epiphone Valve Junior head and Cabinet so I needed a little control over my eq. I purchased the Electro-Harmonix Knockout pedal, and it gave it just the sparkle, edge and low end punch without being overly harsh like so many EQ's tend to do. Like all EQ's you need to find a sound you like. I especially like the middle knob label 'Dry'. This knob has special filters so you can tweek your mid's and take out the upper mid harshness out of a lot of humbuckers. Then you can tweek it the other way and beef up your skinny coils, (I mean single coils:) Over all I rate it a 4.5. Good sound and good value for the money.

.I couldn't figure out exactly what it is from the description or youtube reviews so I bought one. I'm not sure why they call it an 'attack' EQ because it doesn't appear to alter the actual attack (like a BBE sonic maximizer) but it is an EQ.

The center knob controls the dry signal level, set around two O'clock with the other knobs down makes this a buffer with some clean boost available. The right knob brings in some high end, no mids just really hi-end. The left knob brings low end, kind of sounds like having the tone knob on the guitar all the way down. With the center knob up you can get a (very) little low cut when you first bring the left knob up but by the time your around ten O'clock it's boosting the lows.

I tested it ahead of my dirt pedals and it definitely can alter your distorted tones. I haven't tried it after but I'm thinking it can do some interesting shaping and/or boost after distortion too. It's different than a graphic EQ and can definitely improve or destroy your tone depending on how you twist the knobs.

Right now I'm looking at as a utility tool for when you can't quite get that perfect tone - I'm mostly a studio player so the live guys might see a permanent place on the pedalboard for it - even if it's just as a boost (or anti-boost, use it to cut the volume but thicken the rhythm tone and cut it off to bring up the level with a more cutting tone).

Like all the EHX pedals it's well built and very musical sounding...

.I have been using it for quite some time and as many have stated at first I was a little disappointed BUT after tweaking and playing with it a ton I realized this pedal is freaking amazing and can really change your tone, if your looking for a different kind of sound to add in with your other effects or just need some more... punch as it were, buy this pedal ;)

.I went to my local music store looking for a sansamp bass driver, and they didn't have them. I ended up looking for other pedals, and just happened to try this. I was playing an American Deluxe Jazz Bass, and this thing made it sound 10x better than it did without it. I immediately bought it, took it home and toyed with it, then played a show with it that night. I got a lot of good comments about the sound I had with it, and my friend that played on my rig later said that he would be buying one immediately. This pedal allows you to cut through the guitar and drums in any situation. I would highly recommend this to any bass player out there.

.I use this pedal in a variety of ways, but mostly to make an inexpensive Dean Boca electric 12-String sound more like a Rickenbacker 12. It's very easy to use, and lets you adjust your sound with high-pass and low-pass filters. Electro Harmonix claims the pedal can change your sound from "Gibson to Strat to Telecaster, with innumerable shades in between." I've found this to be true. With the right tweaking, you can also get a bit of the Rickenbacker sound. Of course, nothing can replace the original sound, but this comes very close. This pedal is an inexpensive solution for expanding the tonal range of your guitar.
