This is a pretty fun little toy. I bought one because I was interested in adding some unique sounds to my set up. This pedal allows you to alter the pitch of your guitar (or other electric instrument?) up or down several octaves, as well as many other intervals.I find I usually use it as an transposing pedal, that is to say not utilizing the 'wammy' effect. That isn't to say the wammy effect isn't any good. I think depending on the style of music you are playing, it would come in very handy. If you are playing a guitar with a fixed bridge, this will allow you to do some crazy dive bombs and that sort of thing. It is also fun to do 'reverse divebombs' in which the pitch soars up an octave or two. Along those lines, if you pair it with your delay pedal of choice, you can get a sound very similar to Tom Morello's solo on Like a Stone.
As I mentioned though, it is very handy just for transposing. It can be used to turn your guitar into a bass! I was actually surprised at how good the sub-octave feature sounds. Add a distortion pedal here, and you are in for some real fun. If you have any friends who like to play in drop tunings, this is also a handy pedal, as it will let you drop (or raise) your tuning by smaller intervals like a whole step, third, fourth, etc.
There are a few drawbacks, however. Sometimes if the pedal is sitting on an uneven surface such as carpet, it will be just a little out of tune, and things will sound weird. Also, if you plan to use this on a pedal board, you may need to purchase the optional rocker case for it. This pedal does not operate the way a wah pedal might. The upshot is that there are no moving parts, which is nice for maintenance, but if the pedal isn't level, it will think you are trying to do some sort of detuning or something.
I have overall been very pleased with this pedal, and would recommend it to someone looking for a new way to add variety to their sound.

.I've had a great time playing with my slammi, pretty much since it arrived. I can get it to act like a passive sub-octave, which I love for my 4-string bass, especially with the dry blend control. Adjusting the dials is awkward, and the numbers on the effect are vague. I keep it set at 8 for octave for the most part. It's able to go up OR down, tracks polyphonically (entire chords!) and doesn't sound particularly digital.
Buffered instead of true bypass does mean that certain purists might be wary, but I haven't found it to color my sound noticeably while off.

.Got my new Slammi today (from MF, of course) and everything about this pedal is beyond excellent ... except for one thing: Pedal travel. How to remedy the situation? After a few hours of mulling and monkeying with the pedal, I remembered I had some foam I had saved from an old worn out mattress. BINGO! The fix is in !!!
I cut a rectangle about twice the size of the pedal to place on the floor beneath the pedal, and even though the padding is a bit too thick and soft, which causes the pedal to be a bit wobbly, it stopped the travel. So, next I'll find a piece of padding more appropriate for the job. My best guess at this point in the experiment is that a 1/4 to 3/8 inch thickness of high density foam will suffice. Now, the padding itself will tend to move a bit with a lot of pedal use, but nothing like the movement without the foam. This can be remedied with some hook and loop (Velcro) to secure it if needed.
If any of you who reads this would care to, please leave comments/suggestions if you do your own experimenting with foam padding. If you find that it works for you, spread the word.
