The Wiggler is a modern version of an old effect called the "Univibe", which was originally developed as an add on accessory for organs that lacked a vibrato scanner, usually cheaper organs. It quickly became one of THE guitar effects of the late 60's.I used to know a keyboardist who was a real authority on 50's era organs. He had two Hammond B series organs and he was one of those guys who thinks nothing is any good unless it is 40 years old. I told him I had one of these Wiggler vibratos and it had a setting called "Hamm", as in "Hammond". At that point this guy HAD to have me bring the pedal over. He was dying to connect it to a B1 and "prove" it was no good. So I brought it to his place and he hooked it up to a 1950's Hammond B series and it performed like a champ..All the greasy Hammond vibrato sound you could want. Now any little vibrato effect would have been chewed up by the Hammond. This guy knew that, but in the end he was forced to admit the Wiggler is a serious effect pedal.

.I tried my best to love the Wiggler. I spent months tweaking the settings, trying to find a way to implement it in the way I wanted. Alas, it was not meant to be. The features were great, but for me the sound just wasn't quite there. Give it a try; perhaps the Wiggler will suit you better than it did me. Just be sure to save the receipt!
I can't argue with the features of this pedal: All tube signal path, true bypass circuitry, the ability to switch between tremolo and vibrato, your basic rate, volume and intensity knobs to control the effects, and as a bonus, 4 different flavors of tremolo. The only complaint I have is that these options didn't allow for a very modern tremolo sound, but seeing as the Wiggler was made to emulate vibrato/tremolo effects found on vintage tube amps, it seems silly to even bring that up.
Being a pedal with two exposed tubes on its face, this is going to be a shade more delicate than your Boss stompboxes. Seemed solid enough, but if it's got tubes in it, treat it gently. Functionality was always flawless.

However, the sound was disappointing to me in my setup. I run a variety of guitars equipped with single coils, humbuckers and P90s into a single channel tube amp. I wanted nice, clean tremolo out of this unit, and it seemed that no matter how much I tweaked the knobs, every time I kicked on the pedal there was an instant gain boost. Nowhere else was this boost more present than when I was running my Les Paul into the unit. Maybe this pedal just didn't want to play nice with my amp, or maybe the tubes needed replaced. I don't know. When using the Wiggler through an old Fender solid state amp this problem seemed less pronounced, but I wasn't about to give up my tube amp or go about building a new rig based around this pedal.

I suppose it's worth mentioning that I bought my pedal used from a friend who was in dire need of cash, so I can't really comment on the sound of a new in-the-box Wiggler. Any number of things could have been causing the trouble I had with my unit, but in the end what mattered to me is that I was not happy with the sound.
Let's face it; This thing costs a good chunk of change, and there are many other tremolo pedals out there with lower price tags. If I had been pleased with the sound, I wouldn't consider this to be such an important issue. However, my personal experience notwithstanding, I still believe there are pedals out there that do mostly the same thing and are a better value. As with any accessory in this price range, try before you buy!

.The Wiggler (perhaps a questionable marketing name) is so cool. Besides attracting attention with its exposed tubes, the Wiggler will transform your sound. Upon my first use of it with the band, the entire band was raving about the change in my tone, even the drummer! They thought it was my new guitar (Fender Showmaster) but I know it was the Wiggler.I used it on every tune! Clean, it sparkles, (Yeah I know it sounds trite, but it's really fitting for the tone). With distortion, it really floats. I used vibrato on just about every tune, and then tremolo on certain tunes. I used every setting and they really are very different. We all couldn't get enough! The output control can work as a solo boost that is really useful.I couldn't be more pleased with the Wiggler. It is very lightweight and doesn't weigh down my pedal board. It's a bit pricey, but considering it is a vibrato and a tremolo in one unit, it's a deal.

.Like the man says on the windows media video- the baddest tremolo around. It is fat and hot on every setting. Organ effects, Leslie effects, classic tremolo all in one tube driven package. Insanely more fat and lush than the standard tremolo on say a '65 Deluxe reverb. One drawback though- the tubes add some noise and hiss, which is not a major concern through a tube amp where there is already some noise, but in an acoustic effects loop, ouch! it is a little conspicuous. Regardless, I'm a huge fan and the quality inspired me to buy 4-5 other EHX effects, none of which disappointed except the Small Clone.

.This thing has a great vintage sounding tremolo that I really like for subtly adding that extra something to my sound. The vibrato is more versatile than the trem and can give you the rotating speaker/univibe sound of SRV or hendrix really well. The only thing I wish the pedal had would be a slope knob for the tremolo so it could have a more square wave trem for modern stuttering sounds. You can get that feature on much cheaper pedals, but the tone out of this thing is amazing and it is nice to have both the vibrato and trem. If you are looking for only a tremolo pedal though you can get more features for less money with other pedals.

.The tone of the EH Tube Wiggler is fantastic. It has a bunch of settings that are really great for a variety of sounds. Its very tough with a heavy duty metal casing and tube cover. Now the drawbacks... You cannot run this directly into the front of an amp. It will cause a gain boost. Through an effects loop the gain problem seems to be nearly eliminated but if you run strait into the front of an amp, this pedal will cause you problems. Next, its absolutely HUGE. I knew this series of pedals were big and at first it didn't bother me. As I added to my pedal board and real estate became more valuable the Tube Wiggle becomes annoying. Also if you use pedal power (typically 9V) you'll need a regular plug for this cause it requires high voltage. You have to have a big wall wart power supply. My first power supply fried itself in about 3 months after I bought it. So I had to get a new one. The last and main problem is that you can't really use it live. At least not very well. If you play with a live drummer then you'll have problems. You'll end up trying to adjust it mid-song so the tremolo matches the song tempo. Tap tempo would be great but I only realized this after using for a while. Im going to get a new tremolo pedal with tap tempo that is smaller and used standard 9V power. However, all that being said, the tone is wonderful.

.If you are looking for a clean tone, you won't get it. I could not get it to sound clean, but other than that, fantastic tone!
Electro-Harmonix Classics Wiggler Tube Vibrato / Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal
.Fantastic sound, and versatile within the vibrato realm. The tremolo is fat and throbbing. Unfortunately, it it very large, and it's power supply is one of a kind, and NOT pedal board friendly! The adapter is the largest I've ever seen! Very bulky!
Electro-Harmonix Classics Wiggler Tube Vibrato / Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal
.this pedal is the best thing that has been added to my arsenal. it colors your tone and takes it soaring to other dimensions, its features are basically endless, the speed however goes from lightning fast to snail slow. it was pricey but i bought it new, if you can find it on ebay then its definetaly worth it.
Electro-Harmonix Classics Wiggler Tube Vibrato / Tremolo Guitar Effects Pedal
.This is my second EH Pedal, but it won't be the last. The range of these pedals is truly bipolar. If you can't get it to do want you want, then the problem is yours. If you turn the settings all the way down and kick it on, it colors your tone very nicely. I am especially happy with the ability to have 2 effects in one pedal. For me, that makes up for the price. Sounds great through Burstbuckers or SCN's. It is, however, a monster. If you already are short on pedal board space, get a new board. Or, just get some duct tape and strap your other pedals to it.True bypass and exposed tubes. Isn't that how all pedals should be?
