I couldn't imagine spending the last 54 years of my life without music, and, especially since l969, when I was blessed with my own 00028 Martin. It has overcome time, hardship, wive(s), random occurrences for overall joy, happiness, and self-expression. It is my BEST FRIEND!Martin Standard Series 000-28 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar
.Up until I ?discovered? hand-crafted custom and smaller-bodied guitars over the last 2 years, I?d only owned and played Dreads, including 5 Martins. With respect to Martins, I find the combination of the 000 body size / and low profile neck on this 000-28 & the 00 size / and modified low oval neck on my 00-16DBR to be the two Martins that are the most comfortable for me to play (though I will never part with my ?74 D12-18 dread 12-string). Many like the mod V neck of the EC model. My 00-18V had that neck style but I found it difficult to play. The 000-28 isn?t as ?big? sounding as my HD-28 was, but unless you need the volume to cut through a Blue Grass mix, the sound and tone are ample, rich and silky. (You can always pop in a soundhole PU and play thru an amp in that case!). While finger-style playing seems better suited for this model, it?s no slouch in the flat-picking or rhythm/strumming department either. You owe it to yourself to try one, especially before you consider a Dread.

.Acoustic guitar at its best. The warm, balanced tones and the smaller 000 shape are amazing. Although it is a bit expensive, this guitar is well worth the price.

.If you are looking for the value point in the Martin line of small body guitars, this is it. Versus what you might get in a Taylor at this price point, the appointments are pretty basic. However, the woods, materials, and construction are 100 percent Martin quality -- no compromises in this area. Many compare this quitar to the 000-28ec (which I own). This is somewhat valid, but if the 000 is a Toyota, the 000-28ec is a Lexus. Same tone, but I find the 000-28ec to be more responsive. In addition to responsiveness and appointments, there are a couple other differences between the models: neck shape (low oval vs. mod v) and nut/bridge width. I don't think these differences affect the sound, but they do change the playability. All in all, I consider this guitar to be the least expensive "real" Martin small body guitar. I think most any player would be pleased with it.

.I have only one negative thing to say about this guitar. I lose time. I can't walk past her without picking her up and then 2 hours have passed suddenly by.
I tried both the standard and EC versions and bought the standard as it just sounded more to my liking i.e. more raw - had the cash for either. I tend to use mine for blues/folk type music (finger/flat picking).
I've had her for a year now and my love just grows. The one con that i see others complain about is loudness. If you want a loud guitar go buy a dreadnought, not that the 00028 is all that quiet. A fender strat is not loud enough until you amp that baby up! (poor comparison but i'm sure you get my point).Do the same here if you wish to leave the house with her and perform i.e. if you are able to stop playing her and manage to get out the door.
I wish you all the enjoyment that I get from this beautiful instrument.

.Beautifully constructed auditorium guitar! 14 frets clear , 24.9 scale. I love its easy playability and warm, balanced tones. Not too loud but strong enough to fit my needs when I want to finger-pick, play blues or for smooth flat-picking. It doesn't have great volume but I don't need that because I play on my own at home. Don't need to change a thing on this guitar. It is an excellent addition to the other guitars I have including dreadnoughts and small bodies from Martin, Taylor and Larrivee.I highly recommend this great Martin auditorium guitar if you are looking for a top-quality balanced sound and playability. Fingering this guitar may be hard or strange to some who aren't use to the smaller scale size or have for those who have larger sized fingers but it's a problem that can be very easily overcome in time and with practice.Randy

.I had decided on a Gibson AJ but stopped at my local music store to check out a Clapton Martin 000-28. They happen to have a 000-28 and a Clapton signature. I couldn't stop playing them both. I felt that the 000-28 was better suited to me than the AJ. I also felt that while I would like to have the Clapton because "it is a Clapton" there weren't enough reasons to spend the additional dollars. They both sounded the same to me. My wife couldn't tell the difference when she back to the guitars. If you are looking for an acoustic blues guitar it is difficult to pass this one by.

.I've had this particular model [000-28] for about 10 years. It's smaller/thinner body is comfortable and spits out a good, solid tone. It quickly moved into the position of being my main acoustic, and I haven't regretted it since. If you prefer a 'lighter' sound, but still want that hint of Martin tone, this is a great buy if you can afford the price tag!

.I always wanted a Martin 000-28 Standard guitar and I'm very pleased with my purchase. This will likely be the last acoustic guitar I will buy. No need for another. The Martin quality that musicians expect and appreciate.
