Forget the 2.0 star review below. If you want a fuzz pedal, buy a fuzz pedal. I wanted a good, reliable sounding octave pedal, and this thing delivers. First, it's an MXR pedal, which means it comes with the standard true bypass, analog, built like a tank qualities. I played this through a JCM 2000 and JCM 800 with a Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro and Standard and it blew my mind. The Sub Octave knob allows for some very stellar tones. I played the beginning of Space Truckin' and it sounded exactly like Jon Lord's keyboards. You can also get an MXR blue box effect for solos. With the Octave Up switch engaged and the Sub Octave switch turned down all the way, you can achieve very authentic Hendrix tones. You can also blend the octave up and octave down to achieve a very huge, beefy sound. To clarify, you can use just octave down, just octave up, or both together. However, you CANNOT use the fuzz on its own; the octave has to be engaged in order to use the fuzz. That being said, this pedal isn't like all MXR pedals where you can plug in and go. Some experimenting is needed to dial in the tones you want. As for the fuzz component, I was happy with just using my amp's natural distortion and not the fuzz. However, you can have the fuzz on with the distortion and not get crazy feedback (which I thought would happen). If you are looking for an amazing, analog octave pedal, this is definitely worth it. You do not have to be a fan of Slash to like it. If you are looking for just a fuzz pedal, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

.Try before you buy, and try it with your gear. Wanted an MXR Blue Box, but figured I could try this pedal. Not a fan of Slash, but I thought having a fuzz that does octave up and octave down would be pretty cool. Unfortunately, the controls are pretty odd--the "Oct. Into Fuzz" switch [to run the octave down into the fuzz] is a small switch like the "Mod" switch on an MXR Carbon Copy. Great for making the pedal compact, because you don't have to put another footswitch in, but bending down is a pain for some people. Even if the "Oct. Into Fuzz" was a footswitch, the controls would be rather unintuitive. I tried this with single-coils, P-90s, and humbuckers into a Fender Blues Jr., and all I got was a thin fuzz. I could coax some okay tones by activating the octave down, and then running that into a EHX Little Big Muff. After two days of tweaking, this is the only pedal I've sent back, and I definitely would not recommend it for the money.

.Not real sure about "Slash" tones, but this pedal is the fuzziest fuzz I've ever played with. White a Stripes, smashing pumpkins, Hendrix, Cream, even Gilmour...it's all in there. Pog like sub octaves and octave up as well, for those of you who mix your pog with your fuzz. There are endless tones possible, even clean sub octaves. I don't know how anyone could give this pedal a negative review unless you expected Guns & Roses in a box. That it's not, but it is easily the most fun and inspirational fuzz I have ever tried...and I've tried a lot.

.So many different sounds and tones you can get with this pedal, build like a tank, I'm addicted with this pedal, took some time to figure out all the different sounds, really worth it
Dunlop Slash Octave Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal
.This is a very well built pedal that is infinitely adjustable. The fuzz ok but it really depends on your personal taste. The octave is just awesome. This is a cool pedal but I only find it useful on a limited basis. Your only gonna use it for certain songs or certain parts of songs. I've read a couple bad reviews for this pedal but I don't think it was so much the pedal as people that purchased the wrong type of pedal. This is not a distortion pedal it's an application specific product that functions as it should
