The picture looks like this clamp is plastic but it is all metal. Just the sleve inside it is plastic. The clamp works really well if you use it hardware since it only accepts 7/8" tubes. I have TAMA drums and I don't think their hardware fits into these clamps. So what I did was order the gibralter tom holders which should fit into these clamps. I also bought a universal clamp in case it doesn't work. These are nice and compact, unlike the universal clamp which is bulky, so I would try to utilize these clamps first before buying the universal clamp. Plus they are alot cheaper.
