i play a four-piece yamaha setup and wanted a clean and simple way to mount a single tom [i.e., i didn't want to use the large double tom mount for just the one drum]. this was NOT the right piece of hardware for which to mount my tom to my yamaha bass drum; the hex rod was too long and awkwardly placed the tom too far from the mount and into the snare or kick hoop. HOWEVER, i actually ordered both mounts; this one, and the other one with shorter hex rod, and the short hex worked PERFECTLY (at least for me). musicians friend made the return quick, painless, and easy. -- note: i play a 20" bass with a 10" mounted tom. .This is the second one of these I have in play. My sit-down kit is a 6 piece Oak Custom - and my Road Kit "was" a 5 piece Power V Special ( extra deep toms ) but I have a 10" extra-deep tom I wanted to put in play - so this Tom Ball clamp with the long hex rod works perfectly with the Power V special toms ... the extended length gives me all the height adjustments I could ever need and of course, its built "Road Tough" - as are all products. Now I have 2 - working 6 piece kits and Im a happy drummer~!

.A height clamp was missing on one of the rods but luckily we can use the old one.
