Product Features

The THR5 combo amp packs in everything you need out of an off-stage amp. Developed by a team of guitarists in search of the ultimate tone, the THR5 combo delivers the sound you want and the feeling you need. Effects that enhance and complement your playing combine with room-filling reverbs and delays to push your playing to new levels. And thanks to THR's unique design and focus, stadium-filling volume isn't a pre-requisite - everything about this amp is designed to fit the way you play, right down to the need to keep it quiet sometimes. With tone and feel like this, you'll appreciate the ability to keep playing all night.

Most of THR's effects feature VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling) effects processors. Based on the technology used in 's professional audio mixers, VCM effects give unsurpassed realism and quality. VCM effects are capable of capturing subtleties that simple digital simulations cannot even approach, going beyond simple simulation and delivering the truly musical performance that makes classic analog gear invaluable even in today's digital production environment.

The THR5 was developed with 's award-winning AV division to offer true hi-fi stereo sound and a new experience in guitar amplifiers. The exclusive, specially designed speaker enclosure is optimized to handle both guitar and stereo playback sounds making it uniquely capable of giving you amazing tone for both your guitar and your track from a compact, portable amp.

The THR5 incorporates 's new Extended Stereo Technology to create an incredibly wide, spacious audio image. Stereo tracks and studio quality reverb take on a depth unimaginable from such a small enclosure. Also bundled with Cubase AI, Steinberg's professional music production application it offers full-fledged recording and editing. The THR Editor offers deep editing of amp and effect parameters using your computer. Additional in-depth controls include compressor and noise gate functions.

THR's design provides stereo playback from your smartphone or other device through its AUX jack or direct from your computer via the USB connection. The user memory function lets you save up to five amp settings of all controller and switch settings for quick recall. The tap tempo function allows you to quickly set delay time. A built-in chromatic tuner features accurate, stable tuning and an easy to read display.

Finally, the THR5's Virtual Tube Illumination includes a simulated orange tube glow from the metal speaker grille.

I have a Les Paul and a Twin Reverb amp that sound amazing together. However, I still end up using a chorus pedal and it's difficult to move the amp--and it's difficult to crank it up at home. I got one of these and it sounds beautiful--no pedal needed--and great tone at a reasonable volume level. Plus I can use it to record directly to my PC. I don't think I'll be using anything else at home and will investigate how to use this for performing (mic'ing or line out). It sounds that good. I love it and highly recommend it.

.This was by far the best sounding mini amp I have played. I felt that it was too expensive for what it is and it's size.
Yamaha THR5 Modeling Combo Amp
.Great sounding and unique unit but Windows XP users beware...the CUBASE AI recording software is not compatible with XP...only Windows 7.
Yamaha THR5 Modeling Combo Amp
.That is a really well-sounding amplifier. It is loud more than enough for a small bedroom, and also sound unexpectedly well with headphones attached. The only two concerns I have:

(1) single Tone instead of Treble+Middle+Bass (one can pay +$100 for this option in THR10), and

(2) its being not as sturdy as it looks on the Web (on the pictures, it seems all-metal and unbreakable, which was a reason for my purchase, but in reality it is not such; I am not even convinced that the beige material is metal -- it feels more like plastic).

.If you aspire to be a great guitarist...and that is all you will probably ever do, is aspire in the privacy of your living room this is a fantastic amp. Very easy to use, plenty of effects, fantastic sound quality, plenty loud enough to drive your loved ones into the next room. I had a mid sized amp which was bulky, complicated, way too loud...gone! The technology is top notch. Can't beat it - period and for the money a real bargain.
PS: I have never written a review for any product I have bought inline till now. I am that impressed.

.I would like to know how long the batterys last?
have not found that yet other wise I like the MP
Yamaha THR5 Modeling Combo Amp
.Great little amp. Lets the guitar be cranked and the sound get through and still be at a volume level that does not run others off.
Yamaha THR5 Modeling Combo Amp
.i like this amp, nice space saver and i may have to get the bigger one! yamaha makes a fine amp and guitars
Yamaha THR5 Modeling Combo Amp
.I bought this for on the go and quiet home use. My previous small practice amp was just OK. The amp sounds in this little box are great! very responsive to the guitar's volume control and picking dynamics. The clean tone, while quite good, is hard to get much volume with compared to the dirty sounds. I find myself leaving it in the "lead" amp model and just working the guitar volume knob. I have several large tube amps from some of the biggest names out there, but if I want to practice while I watch TV, or quietly work on song ideas, this little amp is just the ticket!
It makes a great little boom box as well for plugging my phone/tablet in for listening to MP3s.
