I bought this stand because the one that came with my drum set was cheap and flimsy and I was tired of constantly having to adjust the top hi-hat. I wanted something that was sturdy and comfortable to play on. I was looking at some of the 2 legged hi-hat stands because I want to add double bass someday and found that the good and stable ones were very expensive. However, this stand has strong rotating legs which gives you extra space around the pedal. You can also easily adjust the tension on the spring by turning the knob at the base of the stand. It was kind of pricy for my budget, but it was worth it.

.If you've had a top-of-the-line hi-hat stand from any manufacturer, then you will be somewhat dissattisfied with this stand. A good stand for the money though.

.This is certainly a great HH stand. Lighter than many, but this is still durable and functional for jazzers and rockers. Single-braced means lighter weight, and I'm all about that! I often play w/o shoes and the pedal is quite comfortable; no rough edges to hurt your foot. Easily adjustable, I prefer the lightest setting and just leave it there.

.Great hi hat, esp for the price. . . solid, yet not heavy. adjustable tension for pedal is nice feature, esp switching between 15" and 14" cymbals.
Yamaha HS-740A Hi-Hat Cymbal Stand
.great stand. stable (three legs), easy to adjust, super easy to assembly. The pedal has the right "pull"... the best part was the price: bought it on Black Friday !!
would definitely recommend this item... Cannot stress the superb customer service enough !! :)
Yamaha HS-740A Hi-Hat Cymbal Stand
.I absolutely love gigging with this hihat stand. I also own the 650a hihatand, but I prefer the spring adjustment knob to be more helpful as well as the 740a not sliding as much as it is slightly heavier. This isn't the lightest stand in the world nor is it the heaviest. Single braced is the way to go. You can't go wrong with the HS-740.

.Got this on sale, so for the price I paid, I'm satisfied with it. It is a good trade-off of light weight and stability. Not sure how it would stand up with 15" hats on it and heavy bashing, but for jazz and studio use it should be perfect. Overall, the build quality is very good, and as with most stuff, this should last quite a while. My only gripe is the spring adjuster, which does not "lock" your setting into place.
