Product Features

The DXR12 is an extremely high-powered 12" loudspeaker capable of producing a maximum SPL of 132dB with its impressive 1100W of power. It is an ideal solution for live sound applications where a wide bandwidth and extremely high resolution sound are required. This bass reflex-style speaker offers a generous frequency range of 52Hz-20kHz, D-CONTOUR multi-band dynamic processing, selectable built-in crossover to easily add a subwoofer, and works well as a main speak or floor monitor.

DXR Series Breakdown
Performance runs in the family, and like the acclaimed DSR Series before it, DXR Series loudspeakers offer superb high-definition sound and class-leading sound pressure levels-yet in a more compact and extremely functional design for more diversity. The DXR Series loudspeakers are perfectly suited for front-of-house sound, monitors, simple amplification, rigged applications and more. Combining the series with 's newly designed DXS subwoofers (sold separately) will further elevate your system's performance, giving you wider control of its thunderous bottom end. With the perfect balance of raw power and innovative speaker technologies, you can depend on DXR Series speakers to deliver the full power of your performance to every member of your audience.

The Power of "D"
's development team took full advantage of a number of advanced digital technologies, both new and refined, based on 's extensive experience accumulated over many long years of developing professional audio equipment. Everything from the detailed management of crossover, EQ and time alignment to the limiter settings, protection functions and precise dynamic control of the sound, was subjected to endless simulation, in-house and field testing to ensure that these speakers produce the highest level of sound quality at the highest output levels possible. Combined with 's advanced analog signal processing and acoustic technologies, the "Power of "D" delivers ultimate performance.

Ultra-Precise 48-bit DSP Processing for High-Definition Sound
All full-range models feature 's proprietary FIR-X tuning utilizing linear phase FIR filters for the crossover network. FIR-X tuning simultaneously optimizes frequency and phase response while adjusting the time alignment between the HF and LF transducers. This creates a very smooth response around the crossover point, providing much better clarity and imaging than what is possible with typical crossovers.

All signals are precisely processed by a 48-bit (76-bit accumulator) high-performance processor for high-definition sound quality. All full-range models employ high-precision 24-bit discrete A/D and D/A converters with superior S/N ratio and dynamic range.

Intelligent Dynamic Control for Consistent Clarity at Any Output Level
D-CONTOUR is an intelligent multi-band compressor that gives you powerful and consistent sound throughout all output levels. By constantly monitoring the output of multiple frequency bands and calculating the optimum EQ adjustments for each, even the maximum sound output maintains outstanding clarity and musicality.
With the DXR Series, D-CONTOUR provides a more detailed tuning of your sound with two different settings: FOH/ MAIN mode or MONITOR mode. FOH/MAIN mode boosts low-frequency to compensate for low-end that is typically missing when speakers are used in suspended applications or mounted on a speaker stand. MONITOR mode is completely optimized for floor monitor application by intelligently taming down the low-frequency that adds up due to floor reflection, smoothing out a wide range of frequency bands to give you stunning clarity for monitoring your sound. Both of these presets were perfected by performing countless listening tests with skilled sound engineers, giving you a multi-band compressor that performs dynamically, delivering consistent sound with low distortion at any output level.

Extensive DSP Protection Functions for Maximum Output
In a typical system comprising passive loudspeakers, power amps and signal processors, trying to set optimal parameters for each component can be a daunting task. One of the advantages of active loudspeakers is that the combination of transducers and amps can be perfectly optimized. During the development of the DXR series, measured and tested the durability of each transducer and the overall amp output through countless indoor and outdoor listening tests. Based on the test results, they were able to set the optimal limiter point for each model using precise DSP control.

In addition to the optimal limiting, these speakers employ many of the same protection functions used in their top-class TXn Series professional power amplifiers. A microprocessor and high-power DSP monitor the status of the power supply, power amplifiers, transducers and ongoing signals to protect all aspects of each component. As a result, these speakers can perform to their full potential while ensuring reliable operation in even the most severe conditions.

High-Efficiency 1100W Class-D Amplifiers
All DXR Series loudspeakers are equipped with highly efficient Class-D amplifiers that were optimally designed to match the DXR's HF and LF transducers. These high-performance amplifiers deliver the highest sound output in their class with 1100W of power, producing an impressive SPL. They also provide very fast attack and superior transient response, which greatly contribute to these speakers' incredible audio performance.

Universal Switching-Mode Power Supply
The DXR Series employs an all-new, high-efficiency switching-mode power supply for its outstanding performance. The power supply is also suitable for use worldwide with its multi-voltage design.

Intelligent Onboard 3-Channel Mixer
The DXR Series features a flexible onboard mixer with a variety of input, making it ideal for simple vocal/ instrument amplification. With its flexible IN/OUT, the DXR Series can comprise a full sound reinforcement system, or seamlessly integrate into a setup utilizing DSR or DXS Series speakers.

Versatile Mic and Line Level Input Capability
The DXR onboard mixer can handle up to three simultaneous inputs. It accepts both Mic and Line level input, giving you the flexibility to connect to a variety of sources from microphones to line level instruments and portable audio devices. When in MIC position, an HPF is automatically activated to roll off unwanted low frequency.

Smart Mixing / Linking Function
Each channel has an individual volume control, letting you mix three discrete audio sources. THRU out passes the input signal from Channel 1 and LINK OUT sends mixed signal from all channels-ideal for daisy-chaining or routing the signal to another destination. LINK OUT is very useful for configuring a compact SR system with another DXR, while LINK MODE allows you to easily switch between stereo or dual-mono configurations.

Custom-Designed DXR Transducers
All DXR Series transducers were meticulously selected and thoroughly customized to deliver ultimate performance. The detailed characteristics and behavior of each transducer was fully analyzed and evaluated with sophisticated computer simulations in order to help realize their full performance potential. The high power output woofers deliver very low distortion and defined, deep bass, while the 1.4" precision compression drivers produce accurate midrange and high frequencies up to 20kHz.

DXR Wide Dispersion Constant Directivity Horn
The HF transducer is mounted to an all-new 90x 60constant directivity horn, designed with the goal of minimizing radiation pattern deterioration in oblique directions as more conventional horns are prone to doing. This can help to achieve a more ideal coverage area without irregularities. With the new wide dispersion constant directivity horn, sound expands in a more rectangular pattern providing 90 horizontal x 60 vertical coverage, with wide-frequency sound projected to the edges of the coverage area.

Durable, Compact ABS Enclosures
Full-range models are moulded in rugged, non-resonant ABS enclosures and are designed to dampen down vibrations caused by high-output levels, producing less distortion and superior sonic quality. The road-tested enclosures are equipped with heavy-duty steel grilles and ergonomic, gripped aluminum handles that greatly improve durability and portability.

Dual-Angle Polemount Socket
Depending on the venue, sometimes your mix can fall prey to low ceilings or other room attributes that can impede a clear, even mix and detract from the audiences' listening experience significantly. The DXR's polemount socket offers two positions (0 and 7) to direct the acoustic energy away from reflective surfaces and on to your audience where it belongs.

Rigging Points for Standard Eye-Bolts and Optional U-Brackets
DXR Series loudspeakers come equipped with rigging points, allowing for rigged application with standard eyebolts (not included). When more versatility is required, optional U-brackets allow simple and easy rigging in both horizontal and vertical configurations.

Symmetrical Enclosure Design for Mirror-Mode Floor Monitoring
The DXR12's enclosure design enables mirror-mode monitor placement that creates a symmetrical sound field for the performer with a larger, more defined "sweet spot". Used in either a balanced dual-mono configuration or a stereo monitor mix setup, mirror-mode floor monitoring can enhance your performance considerably.

I am new to the powered speaker/passive mixer PA. I'd prefer a hybrid 1/4/XLR input and I think the manual could be better....that's really reaching to be critical. This speaker is LOUD and I could not hear distortion with my iPod running through a mixer at a high volume, definitely no distortion from my acoustic guitar/vocals. For my acoustic/electric project, it will be more than enough up to mid-size rooms. They are warm and can get low, even boomy, despite the ABS exterior and I can now keep my small mixer close by without it being an eyesore. Not flimsy or cheap, these are built to last and money well spent for what I needed. I need to play out with them for a year to give an full review, but impressed so far. They need padded covers.
well you can read and look at the pictures...it has 3 inputs, huge power, individual levels, direct out, hi-pass filter, front led, tiltable stand mounting bracket...all good features. I'm giving it an 9 because I'd rather the 1st input have a hybrid (1/4 or XLR) input jack like my EV and the manual could be better for those not familiar with powered setups. Otherwise is righteous.
quality IMO is well above average in general...it's not been gigged or pushed yet, but I have complete confidence that it will be more than enough and has a nice fit/finish. I baby my equipment, so hopefully I'll never have to get the full potential out of it's quality. The ABS walls seem to be thicker than the usual, no rattle or cheap feel...solid.
It's competitively priced...with the features, power, and latest technology...a very good value. I hesitantly bought my first one, played with it at home, used it as a monitor on a gig, and liked it so much that I bought another one...and I don't like to spend money. They will be mains for my next gig, hopefully my next several years worth of gigs. I'm a "bang for your buck guy" and I could sleep at night after buying them.

.I'm using this with a Fractal Audio Axe-FX II guitar processor. The sound I'm getting from this speaker is - at least for ghe Axe-FX - is nothing short of incredible. This is replacing a QSC K12 which died after only a month of ownership. I'm glad it did die! The QSC was very brittle & harsh sounding where the , at least to my ears, is perfectly flat. Exactly what you want if you want to faithfully reproduce the intended tones of modeled guitar amps!

.I've recently owned a pair of QSC K12 and replaced them with the DXR12s. WOW!! I was really impressed with how well they kept up at extremely high volume. I did A/B at a local music store, and I was totally blown away by the sound quality and power of DXR12.

I have owned DXR12s for about a month now, and I found the processing called "D-CONTOUR" really amazing. With the processing activated, the speaker sounds like a 15" cabinet!!!! My friend had JBL EON515XTs, so me and my friend compared my DXRs to his EONs out of curiosity. What!? I could not believe that 12" speaker could beat 15"... My friend has just bought a pair of DXR12s a week ago:)

.Extreme dynamics, super powerful, and lite weight. Everthing a mobile DJ could ask for... I had to trim my system way down to for these speakers, they hardly need any signal at all, to reproduce,(AKA.BLAST EXTREMELY CLEARLY and be SUPER LOUD WITHOUT DISTORTION,) anything you send to them. I always used 15 inch mains, but these 12's are incredible. Just having the headroom for those special moments when you really need it, is priceless! I Love 's from my GRizzly 700 to my DXR 12'S.

.I bought these to upgrade from my old JBLs and after listening to a bunch of comparisons at GC, these were a head above the rest. Made to compete with the QSC K series, these things certainly deliver. I grinned from ear-to-ear while testing these speakers in my basement DJ practice sessions a couple months ago... still grinning each gig I've done since. Don't expect to save a couple hundred bucks with an inferior speaker, you can't get this quality for any less. Best speaker I've heard in a while. Even without a sub these things bump pop and hip-hop without a problem. I did an outdoor gig playing top 40 and these things had plenty of headroom to spare, sans any distortion. You won't be disappointed with these in your gear list. The only speakers that I've heard that can hang with these are the QSC brethren for a few hundred bucks more... They are also plug and play which helps with some of my mobile DJ gigs in where I just need to play music and have one mic. Great stuff and I've come to trust as my go to for "bang for the buck" live pa gear. If you are a professional, you can't go wrong with these. My only grip is that the finish of the speakers looks great but scratches pretty easily. Definitely buy cases before you do a gig... I didn't and managed to scratch them a little but nothing major. Highly recommended!

.For acoustic rehearsals I only use one speaker. For outdoor live, FOH, over a pair of subs, and some side fills with monitors on stage. I could use a small set in the middle for clarity, but step back and whoa! Many compliments. Every mixer I added sounded good through the s. Mackie, Soundcraft, and -they all sounded fine. I plan to add some more speakers, and possibly Subs. You can't go wrong with these speakers. I did a wedding DJ and received many compliments, no complaints, as these speakers over the subs cranked it out all night long. I have been asked to submit bids for additional outdoor concerts. I also play acoustic solo sets, and they work great. A bit of an overkill for sounding so good, but you hear every bit of my voice, and sound from my Taylor guitar, and Takamine 12 string. Invest in these, I did.

.I have owned the following speakers since I started my DJ business:

Behringer Eurolive B212D
JBL EON 515XT
Alto TS115A

DXR12 blows them out of water. These speakers comes on their own when you need to increase the volume as Party gets going. With these speakers I was able push them without clipping. My other speakers would have run out of gas but kept going. Also with these speakers no need for external sub woofer once Contour is engaged. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Yamaha DXR12 12" Active Speaker
.I couldn't be more happy with my purchase. this speakers truly rock specially when used with subs and they work prefect with my 2 qsc kw181. Every time i go and play at an event i get compliments on the sound quality and how clear and crisp they sound. For the price they are i don't think you can find anything else in the same value that will be better then the yamaha dxr12. So far I'm very happy with the purchase and i love the sound they produce. The only down side of this speakers is that they scratch very easy.
Yamaha DXR12 12" Active Speaker
.The DXR12 sounds just as good as the QSC K12 and maybe a bit cleaner. It has great features, a great DSP and is a bit less expensive than the QSC K12.
