Product Features

's FG800 Folk Acoustic Guitar is a reasonably priced entry-level acoustic guitar featuring one of the most popular tonewoods - solid Sitka spruce - for the top. This gives you a nice mellow tone with a slower response, and keeps the guitar nice and lightweight, a combination that is ideal for a beginner trying to find their way around the instrument. The nato back and sides also keeps the guitar lightweight and inexpensive while not sacrifcing tone. Other features of the FG800 include a rosewood fingerboard and bridge, black and white body binding, die-cast tuners, and a tortoise pickguard.

I have been learning to play for 4yrs.During that time I have had several guitars in this price range. The reason being I was never happy with the proformance of any of them. This guitar right out of the box,was the best sounding, ease of fretting and best made of all.I will be playing this one for ever.

.This guitar is head and shoulders above its pricepoint. I wasn't expecting much, but I wanted a guitar to travel with that I wouldn't have a big investment in. Boy, was I wrong. This is just amazing! It has a solid spruce top and laminated Nato/Okume back and sides, and a Nato neck. The fretboard and bridge are rosewood. The frets are level and polished, with no hint of sharp ends. Mine is Sand Burst, and the finish is beautiful. The back of the neck is a matte finish, making it very easy to play. The shape of the neck feels good, with just enough beef to be comfortable. This is not a skinny neck profile. The tuners are inexpensive, but they work as intended and the guitar stays in tune. The saddle and nut are some type of cheap plastic and could benefit from an upgrade, but they work just fine as is. The serial number is crudely printed on the brace just below the end of the fretboard (inside of the soundhole), and there is a cheap square green label glued inside to designate the model and brand. I can't determine how the endpin is installed, it was shipped installed and a look inside with a mirror reveals that there is no hole drilled through the base for the endpin. I can only guess that the pin is glued to the base of the guitar. There are a couple of small indentations in the soundboard, below the finish, but you have to look for them. All in all, the fit and finish is very good. The truss rod adjustment nut hits on the brace if loosened too much. This does not cause a problem, but the access hole does not line up perfectly with the truss rod adjuster. The rod itself turns freely and works properly. I had to do a truss rod adjustment, and everything fell into place with the exception of the intonation being slightly sharp on two strings. This is easily corrected, and the action is right where I like it, although some may want it lower. The sound is amazing, loud and sparkly with a clear, punchy tone. You can't go wrong!

.I bought this as an inexpensive guitar I could be comfortable traveling with, and keep my more expensive acoustics at home. I couldn't be happier with this guitar. It exceeded my expectations for sound, playability, and build. The action is a little high out of the box, but that will be easy to adjust. The sound is full and rich, much better than any guitar in this price range I've ever heard. The quality is superb. The finish is beautiful and the construction is rock solid. I can't imagine a better beginner guitar or inexpensive second guitar. In fact, it's such a good instrument, I don't know if I can bring myself to travel with it.

.I bought one of these for my son. I have a guitar that costs 7 times the price and it is a very very nice guitar but this had me shaking my head in disbelief. If I had played this at the time time I had bought my own guitar I would found it very hard to pay 7 times the amount for only a very small difference in sound. I have also had the previous model, the FG700 and the FG800 is better in many ways. It sounds more dynamic and considerably more resonant.

.I like the new yamaha upgraded models the sound is close to much higher priced mocels the craftmanship is very good however you have to try a few to get the right one some sound and feel better than others...the only thing i dont like is i guess they skimped on the neck sanding and did not put any finish...too bad.

.Tune this thing down a while step. It sounds good tuned standard in E, but it sounds freaking amazing tuned down a whole step. So resonant and gorgeous.
