If you are looking for a high-quality, low price recorder, this is it! If you want a candy-color "toy," go elsewhere.

This recorder is about the best quality you can buy, without moving to the wooden recorders that performing recorderists use.

I have used these in a classroom setting (as a teacher) for over 10 years. Every year, I order a new batch (approximately 30-50) that my students individually purchase. I have yet to see one of these have anything wrong with them. recorders are excellent quality. They are without exception, in tune with each other, every joint fits together perfectly, and "edges" are as smooth as silk. I still have (and actively use) my Baroque recorder from the early 1990's, and the quality is still exceptional.

There are other good quality recorders out there, and I tend to buy other sizes (alto, tenor, etc) from these companies. However, if you are teaching oodles of students, for the best bang for your buck, buy recorders (and buy Baroque, the fingering is easier, and students transfer better to band instruments later).

Trust me- your students may gripe about the color at the beginning, but what's more important? Color of the instrument or tone (sound) color? The colorful recorders (and I have tested several brands) tend to be less about excellent quality, and more about getting instruments into kids' hands. While I cannot fault them for trying to interst children in music, I will fault them for not making these candy-colored wannabes just a bit more pricy, and use better materials.

Tastes in color change for children anyway; get them colorful lanyards to wear and hold their recorders! Cheaper in the long run (reuse the lanyards every year), and give them MUSIC quality. Trust me, you will never be sorry for picking an instrument of good tone color. And, folks, this is it.

.I really enjoyed this instrument. I am only fifteen and have been playing instruments all my life. I do alot of original recordings for my solo project and was looking for something to fill up some sound that really brought out the emotion. Sure, there are better recorders. This price, and the quality of sound though, is unbeatable. I recommend to anyone from pros to beginners!

.I haven't picked up a recorder since I was in elementary school, wanting to learn a woodwind, I decided to purchase a recorder as a beginning instrument for myself. A bit of a challenge at first I am surprised at the durability and quality of the YRS-24B, it produces wonderful tones and pitches. I will certainly look forward to purchasing other products in the future.

.I owned one of these for a long time. When I lost it I replaced it with a Gill that cost the same, but it just didn't play the same. The quality of the was much better. It holds the high notes better and sounds a lot richer than any other low end recorder I've played. I tried many brands, but when I get my kids theirs it'll be s all around.

.I purchased this item for my 9 year old granddaughter, as she is playing the recorder in her (school) music class. It's been just perfect for her! I have a beautiful old wooden recorder that I've played for years, and I'm surprised at how rich the tone is in hers. We've had so much fun playing together!

I actually bought two of these, as my other granddaughter will soon be playing one as well. Great product for a great price, and super quick shipping to boot.

.Costs a bit more than most and worth it. Very good intonation, and easy speaking in the high register. Quality fit and finish with nice tone. More than good enough to keep beginners and most amateur players happy.
