I've only had this guitar a few days. The sound is way more than the price tag, both plugged and unplugged. The exterior workmanship is very good. While the looks are relatively plain, the feel of the guitar is that of a more expensive instrument. The solid musical tone-woods make all the difference. The EF-500RCCE does have it's short comings. The interior workmanship was not so good. The spruce bracings for the top and bottom appear to have been kiln dried rather than letting nature do it more slowly. The result is the braces seem brittle. I found a crack in one of the bottom braces. I don't think the overall structural integrity is diminished by the crack, but it's not what I look for in a brand new guitar. While the sound of the guitar is not impacted, I'd guess the longevity may be. Another problem occurred when I plugged it in. There were intermittent but constant pops and crackles in the amp, annoying to an extreme. While waiting for the makers of the electronics (shadow-electronics) to get back to me, I discovered that the hole drilled through the bridge to wire the under the bridge piezo, had accidently pierced the X brace. The wire from the piezo was run through it and apparently the wire itself vibrated when the guitar was played. This resulted in the unwanted noise. I would think that this is a rare occurrence. Getting the wire out of the X brace resolved the problem. The sound is indeed beautiful. Overall, I like the guitar and am good with the purchase. .To me the EE-Epiphone-e Masterbilt EF-500RCCE is by far one of the best steelstring guitars out there. I was looking for a steelstring with a wider nut/fretboard (This one is 1.750") because I'm more a nylon strings player. I've played many steelstrings guitars at Guitarcenter before I decided to purchase the Masterbilt and I fell in love instantly when I hooked it up to the amp. Phenomenal!! There's no need to mention all the specs (which can be found on the EE-Epiphone-e website) but I must say that this is just an amazing sounding guitar. It comes with the eSonic 2 system by Shadow. .I bought the EE-Epiphone-e EF-500 RCCE because I was looking for a fingerstyle guitar but wanted an acoustic electric as well. I ordered it throcpattonugh a local dealer. When it came and I played it I was stunned!! This guitar has an amazing sound. The solid cedar top and solid rosewood back and sides look beautiful. Strummed it souds a little muddy but when you are fingerpicking, this guitar really lets you know what it is capable of. EE-Epiphone-e really out did themselves with this one. My hat's off to them!! I would recommend this guitar to anyone!!

.I read all the reviews before I bought this one and I have several other EE-Epiphone-es. While none of my Epi's can stand up to my Martins and Gibsons, they serve a good purpose. But this one is amazing. I used a mirror to look at every glue joint on the purfling, bracing and neck joint. There are no sloppy joints. My other Epi's are made in Korea and China. This one is made in Indonesia. The finish is not a gloss, as described in MF desciption, but is a matte. The manufacture's discription says there is no finish, but there is something and it looks good and feels good. There is no sandy feeling as some reviewers claimed. It has a good bright sound and the electronics and tuner are really good. It is definitely a fingerstyle guitar. A pick does it no good. For the price, this is an excellent purchase. On the strength of another review, I did buy extra strings and changed them out when I was having trouble tuning it. I had the same trouble with the new strings and I came to believe it was the bone nut. I think it could use a little file work to help the sting slide a bit. I can't find a case that really fits it and that I don't like. My Gibson 175 case fits it fairly well, but that case is a bit pricey for this guitar. I have been lead to believe that EE-Epiphone-e is coming out with a case for it, but no one knows when.

.This guitar is wonderful. It is warm and very responsive. I really dig this axe. very comfortable for fingerstyle and it is my main preference. I don't have much experience since I have only been playing for 3 years and am classically trained.

.I had my reservations about ordering this guitar sight unseen and unheard. Always been a Martin fan, along with Takamine or a nice Gibson but I was looking for something different that was in a more reasonable price range.
This guitar was masterfully built and is beautifully appointed. The sound range is lush and warm and she is an absolute joy to play. I have no regrets and I am extrememly happy!

.I'm 66 played guitar all my life, this was by far the worse purchase in my life. Made out of garbage, sounded like garbage,electronics did not work.I was floored as I was anticipating a beautiful sounding guitar. Anyone that likes this guitar is deaf. what a disappointment.

Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500RCCE Fingerstyle Acoustic-Electric Guitar Matte Natural
.I was looking for a decent guitar with wide string spacing, fat neck, solid woods, cutaway with humbucker and saddle pickup with tuner. I got all of that and then some with this Masterbilt. I own a Martin 00028EC and did not feel comfortable lugging it around in and out of my truck and gigs and worrying. This Epi has solid rosewood and solid cedar top. It does not have the deep thud of the Martin but the cedar sounds very nice and is breaking in well. With the superb electronics, great gold tuners, tasteful inlay, and dual input this is a tremendous value. I got a level three with a slight knock in headstock for 50% off retail.
Changed strings, lowered action and away it goes, very nice guitar I can take camping and gigging without the worry. I removed pickgaurd, gives the guitar more character, better sound.
I've had epiphones since since 1968. I actually have a 1934 EE-Epiphone-e, lots of mojo.
This new masterbilt is commendable, comfortable, and fits the guitar slot I was aiming for. Well done EE-Epiphone-e.
