Product Features

The king of solid body guitars, the Les Paul Custom made its debut in 1954 after the initial success of the Les Paul Goldtop. Les Paul himself suggested black as a great color for a new Les Paul because it looked "classy" and went well with a tuxedo on stage. Now with its ebony or antique white finish, the Les Paul Custom has often been referred to as the "tuxedo" Les Paul. And with its gold appointments, fully bound body, neck and headstock and mother-of-pearl inlays, we think you'll agree that the EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Les Paul Custom is "dressed to kill". Now featuring ProBucker 2 and ProBucker 3 humbucking pickups with coil-split, gold hardware, multi-binding on body (top and back), neck and headstock as well as split-diamond mother-of-pearl headstock and fretboard inlays, it's as gorgeous as it is deadly.

It's a great axe for a lefty. I changed the pickups for personal preferences, but everything else is perfect!

.I use this live on stage, and in practice. It always gets the job done, sounds great, looks good. I don't like to give out 5-star product ratings, because there is usually something that could be better about almost anything. But frankly there isn't anything about this that needs to be better: the build is solid, the electronics are very good, and the pickups sound excellent.

Note: volume knobs can be pulled up to split the pickup coils, and pulling up the tone knob puts them out of phase. This info is not typically included in product descriptions. These aspects give the Epi Custom Pro an enormous range of potential tones, but you don't need to use them -- it sounds great as is.

I tried a lot of HB-pickup guitars before this – well, a lot of left-handed HB guitars, which isn't many – but I wasn't willing to pay this much. Could the Epi LP Custom Pro really be worth 50% more?

Well of course the answer is Yes, and the main reason is indeed the pickups; they never disappoint. Their sound has depth & fullness. It really feels like you're playing an instrument, and not just some log strung with wire & slapped with pickups devoid of personality. This baby comes to life.

Yeah, it's only available in black; somehow that seems appropriate. Gold hardware looks good, a classy overall presentation. It does come with some distinctive weight, but LP type guitars are known for that – and lighter guitars still cause shoulder ache, so why not have the real thing with the real sound?

We read all the time that this or that guitar should make you want to play; this is one of those guitars.

.Got this guitar from MF today. Wow! What a beautiful guitar! Plugged it in and minor tuning and this thing sounded awesome. Got a Gibson 2006 LP Studio and while they don't sound the same the Epi is right there with the Gibson. Coil splitting makes is sound like a strat, if you want that sound. To me nothing is better than humbuckers. Finish was flawless and no need to get it setup. Great guitar!

.Sounds great, feels great, may need a tiny bit of setup, but pretty much playable out of the box.

Great value for the cost, I think I even prefer its sound better than my Gibson SG Standard.
