This is a nice eq for the money.
It's not a boutique high-end hand built eq, but if you just need to cut some frequencies in your guitar spectrum, it will work for that purpose.
It is voiced specifically for the guitar range.
A lot of reviewers remarked about the noise level that this eq can add to their signal path. If you talk to any professional sound guy you will find out that eq's are best used for cutting frequencies, not adding them to your signal path.
If you keep the level control at the unity (mid) level and only cut unwanted frequencies, the noise shouldn't be a problem. Keep in mind that cutting those frequencies on an eq this small will lower your signal level a bit overall, so you may need to boost it up somewhere up the path. If you boost it from this eq, it will add noise. I use this pedal to cut 200Hz from my signal path because my Marshall just kills me with 200Hz frequencies.

.This is a excellent pedal! Having a EQ on you board is a great way to shape your tone. The GE-7 is well worth the money. I have a few Boss pedals & I love em. Boss make great pedals.

.No noise, great eq. Not much else to say.

.I noticed that there were a lot of complaints about the hiss that this pedal gives, so i was scepticle when buying it. i found it used at a local shop for only $49 though, and i needed something to replace the broken equalizer in my acoustic, so i decided to give it a shot. i LOVE it. i DIDN'T hear any HISS. maybe it's just mine, but i had no noticible noise come from mine at all. --if the hiss really bothers you, jhs pedals has a mod to fix that and widen the range of the eq.--

Also, it shapes the tone amazingly on my acoustic and electric. i was able to tweek the sound just to what i wanted it to be, and it's a lot better then what my original eq could have done.

i am, hands down, completely satisfied with my purchase.

.Using this as a boost pedal, works well and cuts through the band to bring solos to the front pretty well. Nice volume boost, easy to manipulate sliders, easy to hit the foot switch on the fly while playing.
Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal
.This is an EQ and boost rolled into one. Great for boosting and decreasing unpleasant frequencies. It can also make your acoustic guitar sound like a more expensive guitar. Use this before or after your Overdrive pedal for more of everything. Makes your Modulations much better. There is no downfall from having one or two of the GE-7 EQ pedals on your pedalboard.

.I initially looked at two of the most popular equalizers, the BOSS and the MXR, and chose the MXR. I quickly found that it was not easy to use. The sliders were tiny and were not easy to move, and the LED's were not that useful; even with the lights the sliders tended to blend in with the face of the pedal. I returned the MXR and got the BOSS and I have been much happier since. It is much more legible and user-friendly. I am not obsessed with sound quality, so it may differ minutely from the MXR but it doesn't seem to adversely affect the tone of the signal. Unless you're really picky about your equalizer, this one is likely to do, especially in a live situation. I find it useful mainly as a boost, but I love having the flexibility to sculpt my sound so easily! A really useful pedal!
Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal
.The pedal is built sturdy and strong like all boss pedals but the problem is its noisy! As soon as you move the sliders out of a neutral position you can hear some amp hiss. I then tried the MXR M108 and found it to be much more quiet.

. In my case I found it really stripped my tone when bypassed. On I can get some good sounds out of it but scratching my head why its sucking the dry signal dry.
Wow, a quick look around at the reviews and I feel I am one of the few that had issues with the EQ. I bought it to run with my MXR 10 band to have another quickly selectable tone at the ready. I immediately noticed a tone difference even when clicked off. Moved it around the chain but on my setup it really did take out alot of the depth of the tone. With distortion,od and other effects on I could not notice it but dry it really sucked the tone out so I know its effecting the overall sound. I took it out for now but at only 100 bucks its worth a try. What attracted me was the small footprint on a already crowded board.
Dunno but if its like the other Bosses it a brick.
100 bucks for a small tough eq.

.To be honest, the sound bytes do not give this thing any justice. This is perhaps the most useful pedal I own. People spend so much time in vain buying different distortion pedals and amps, hoping to capture the sounds of their favorite bands. But they somehow overlook these beautiful underdogs of the guitar world, graphic EQ pedals. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you have to spend money on expensive amps and pedals. Just try one of these out on your guitar rig and you'll see what I'm talking about.
