I had a TU-2 before and hated it. The accuracy of the TU-2 is +/- 3 cent, which is ridiculous. That means you could potentially be 6 cent out of tune between strings. I also didn't like how it tracked notes. The TU-3 is a huge improvement. +/- 1 cent accuracy and improved tracking. The display is bright, has a better 21 segment tuning display over the TU-2's simple multiple LED display. The high brightness mode for outdoor use is great, I even use it indoors on dark stages.I like the stream/strobe mode where it operates almost like a strobe tuner but also gives a nice confirmation that you are dead on pitch. Easy, fast tuning. This tuner found itself a permanent place on my analog board. Best pedal tuner I've used. I had a Korg Pitchblack before this one, and while I liked the small footprint and the large note display, the accuracy was lacking, even though it was < +/- 1 cent, because the tuning guides just weren't fine grained enough, and it didn't track very well.
Boss TU-3 Chromatic Pedal Tuner
.It does what it's supposed to.
It has a needle that points to the center when you are right on the desired note. Just in case that wasn't enough - it also has a light that lights up. They thought of everything!
Unless I'm tone deaf, it seems to put you in tune.
I like that it's not made out of plastic.
Boss TU-3 Chromatic Pedal Tuner
. This is a great tuner pedal. I use it both with my electric and my acoustic and it offers percise tuning in a small amount of time. It's great because it has both a output which if you run it this way it will cut your single off when ever you need to tune or it has a bypass output which will tune your guitar without cuting you guitar signal which is great to run with a volume pedal so you won't have to keep turning you pedal on and off when you play live or something. It's a great pedal and is well worth the money and would be a great buy for anyone.
Boss TU-3 Chromatic Pedal Tuner
.Very accurate, I can tune my 5 strings bass down to a low "A" easily. For a low "G" it barely detects the frequency, but still useful.
It has two outputs (bypass and output), the second one mutes your sound while tuning your guitar/bass, this is pretty useful also if you want to switch your guitar/bass between songs without turning off your amp. No messy sounds.
I recommend to use the power cable instead of batteries, otherwise you will not be able to finish your concert when the batteries are already drain. One 9v battery is included, the power cable is not included (to bad from boss for such an expensive pedal. I use "One Spot" cable for my TU-3). The battery is pretty easy to replace, no tools needed.
Very strong metal case and rubber bottom for improved traction.
This TU-3 is more accurate than my boss TU-12 (which cannot even detect the low B frequency) and the onboard tuner of my Orange 100BXT amp. I uploaded a comparison to youtube if you wanna watch.
TU-3 is somehow costly, but i strongly recommend saving some money until you can buy this one (for its quality and precision).
Boss TU-3 Chromatic Pedal Tuner
.Tuning like a BOSS!
Great pedal very solid design.
Awesome tuner. Great for everything from 7 string guitars to 6 string basses. Extremely accurate and precise. Has several modes for tuning such as the standard mode where the LED moves till its centered, constantly moving lights to either the sharp or flat side and slowing down as you get closer to the note, and another i've yet to check out. The LED are uber bright. The TU-2 came out in the 80's and was solid until this baby came out. This pedal should be around for 30 years like its previous model. Boss quality stompbox as usual. Full metal stomp box. Just all around perfect.
It might be a little pricey but well worth it. Compaired to others around this same price its definately the best. Throw out the extra cash for this pedal if you can afford to.
Boss TU-3 Chromatic Pedal Tuner
.Easy to see tuner guide lights until green light is lit indicating tuned note. Use 9V battery or needs optional AC adapter. Simply plug in guitar, turn on pedaly switch, and tune. Output plugs consist of an Output Jack (mutes tuning output when connect to amp or other processor) or Bypass Jack (connects to amp or other processor while always playing tuning note using pedal switch).
Simple to use with excellent results.
Excellent quality
Great value with free shipping and without state sales tax.
Boss TU-3 Chromatic Pedal Tuner
.This pedal is everything to me, and I have three reasons why. I down tune my guitar to cgcfad for one. Two I power all my pedals off of this pedal, and three I use this pedal as a bypass to cut my sound live. All around greatest pedal to have!
Boss TU-3 Chromatic Pedal Tuner
.I own a Boss TU2 pedal. When I heard about the TU3, I was thinking, "There is nothing wrong with the TU2." I was right... except the TU3 is even better.

I used one when I was subbing for a band, and here's what makes the TU3 better. The LED's are closer together which shows more accurate tuning. When you are tuned up, two yellow LEDs zoom across the pedal to tell you "STOP, you are perfectly in tune." (The yellow arrows of the TU2 are good, but I like this better)

I'm sure that's just one of many modes you can use. I am seriously considering selling my TU2 and getting a TU3.There are other good tuners out there, (and a ton of REALLY, REALLY TERRIBLE ones) but Boss is constantly improving already top-of-the-line products.

Play guitar/bass? You need this.
It's Boss. Boss = (virtually) indestructible
A touch expensive.
Boss TU-3 Chromatic Pedal Tuner
.I have always stayed away from pedal tuners in the past but my Boss TU-12 went out on me after 11 years. I tried some cheaper tuners and have never been satisfied with their performance so I decided to go back to Boss and I thought that I would try one of these out. The tuner works great on both my guitar and bass, it is built like a tank, and is really easy to read. I haven't had any problems with tracking and I cannot tell that it affects my tone enough to worry about(I have used other pedals that I couldn't stand to use because of that very reason). I am not disappointed at all and I am glad to have a quality tuner again.
Boss TU-3 Chromatic Pedal Tuner
.Only purchasing as I gave my original Boss tuner (15 years old) to my son.
This thing is an Ox...expect it to take more abuse than friends and I can dish out
