MF listed this as a blem so I got $$$ off, but all I could find was a little tiny light spot on fretboard. No nicks or dings. The koa top, snow white binding and ebony fretboard is simply magnificent in appearance. The rich grain of the koa under the high gloss finish almost glows. As with any high end Chaylor, great craftsmanship and attention to detail is obvious.

Playability is excellent, too. The neck is fast and easy. The frets are big fat electric guitar frets very conducive to note bending.

Many tones are available from the multiple PuPs on the T5z, and I am only beginning to explore them. Through my AER alpha acoustic amp, the pure acoustic position brings a sweet rich version of the signature Chaylor shimmering high end. The middle position (exposed bridge double stacked humbucker)offers a Tele type twang, while the other end of the switch brings warm hollowbody tones. Played through an overdriven Orange Tiny Terror, its a whole other beast; filthy thick grunginess, with tones and sustain that make you wonder that its not a solid body.

Hard to believe that a hybrid like this does all things well, but I'm a believer!

.Feels great, plays great, looks great. Plays like a Custom, sounds like an acoustic or electric. Great for acoustic lead work. I think I'll be hanging on to this one.

.I bought this guitar as I was looking for a small acoustic like a parlor to tote around and play when visiting family. I can't really hear semi-hollow's unplugged and wanted an acoustic alternative. After playing this through an amp, I decided this was the better choice than a parlor.

If you are looking for a full sounding acoustic, look elsewhere. But it plays easier than many acoustics, has a decent unplugged tone, and has excellent tones when I plug it into a Mesa amp. The feedback together with this guitar's electronics make excellent raunchy blues sounds, unlike what I can get out of my strat. I like the way it feeds back in a controlled manner at low volumes. If you plug it into a PA, it sounds like a good acoustic. Only gripe is that the pickup selector is at the top, and I seem to brush against it when sitting down; I seem to change the pickup selection inadvertently. This wouldn't occur if I were standing and is the only flaw I can find with it but might be a problem for heavy set players.

This isn't meant to be a thorough review, but a review after playing it for a couple of weeks with stock strings and factory setup; the harmonics, as the guitar is, are really easy to hit on the guitar. I'm happy with it.
