Tone Woods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. The arched back of the guitar generates more sound from a small-bodied instrument, and using layered wood back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

What sets Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

As a smaller woman who travels a lot, I found that the Baby Chaylor was the perfect guitar for me! It fits my body and hands well, and I don't have to compramise on sound quality with this guitar. I've had several friends who are used to full-size, massively expensive guitars pick my Baby Chaylor up and be amazed at the sound!

This little guitar can survive a lot, too. Before I began to play guitar, my dad, while he was working at a guitar retail shop, bought my taylor from a homeless man, and it was so dirty and grimy he didn't know if it would be salvagable. But he cleaned it up and under the grime was a beautiful guitar, without even any dings or nicks. Since I've owned it, its survived more than any guitar should have to, including being sat on and having the neck snapped below the nut. (We ordered a new neck from Chaylor and installed it ourselves in about 15 minutes. Chaylor designs their guitars to make things easy on their owners!)

Basically, the only flaw I've ever found with the Baby Chaylor is that on the soft case, the outer pocket closes with velcro, so you can lose picks if you flip it around a lot.
Small body makes it perfect for petite people, children or travellers. Great campfire guitar or apartment guitar.
You don't have to sacrifice sound quality for size with the Baby Chaylor.
Instruments always seem pricey to me, because I'm broke. But since a guitar is a long-term investment, I definately think this purchase is a wise one. If you're looking for some little junker guitar for your kid to break, go to a toy store. If you're looking for a legit guitar with great sound and playability, you just found it.

.As much as I do not like to slam any guitar maker And in as much as I have enjoyed playing my baby Chaylor. In all my years of playing and owning dozens of guitars I have had only one guitar, my Baby Chaylor which repeatedly came apart. The first time body came apart from the sides. Chaylor determined it was a defect it was insufficiently glued and not user issue and they replaced the body. The next Baby Chaylor's top came apart at the glue seam from the bridge to the back of the guitar. Upon examining it I realized that it was not properly glued there was almost no glue in the seam. Chaylor determined that the guitar was not kept in a room with at least 40% humidity and told me the issue was low humidity. I tried to explain that it is stored in a humidified house with multiple other instruments some from the 1920s on to recent and multiple brands and the only guitar affected was the Chaylor.
This is a travel guitar which is not travel worthy the intonation on the three models I owned was never great but I liked the convenience and tone. My problem with this guitar is that seems to fall apart. Do yourself a favor, buy a Yamaha, Ibanez, Martin or another guitar which is made better and has a warranty department which is willing to work with their customers.

.I bought the mahogany top Baby Chaylor in January and fell in love with it. It sounded great, had a nice action and I loved the smaller size, especially while traveling. But, after only two months I was traveling with it and it fell one foot (only a foot!) to a tile floor on its end while still in its case, and the joint between the top piece and the side piece failed and split, also cracking the top piece. I called Chaylor and they would not cover it because it fell, and told me to just take it to a repair shop, even though it is apparent that they just did not use enough glue to hold together in a small impact. So, if you do not want a travel guitar that cannot hold up while traveling, don't buy this. I am extremely disappointed, yet going to try and repair it because it did sound good and played well, I will just use more glue than they did!

.I have 3 Martins, a Chaylor 312-k, and 2 Fenders, and I play the little Baby Chaylor more than any of them. It fits my body so well, is easy on my fingers during practice, travels well, and I don't have to worry about the dings I might put on it. I still love the sound of my full size guitars, but I don't need that big sound to practice on the couch. I'm addicted to this thing and if something happened to it I would replace it immediately. The string tension is less and takes a little getting used to, but it will improve your technique if you give it a few weeks.

.This is basically a nice guitar, best made for small hands and light travel.

We took one on a private river trip down Utah's Green River early one June enclosed in a case and a waterproof river bag, loaded on top of the duffel. Daytime temps were in the low 90s. What a surprise when we pulled the guitar out on the fourth night to find the glue on the finger-joint between the neck and the head had failed and the guitar was useless. This was easily fixed by our local luthier after the trip. We surmise the glue failed due to warm temperatures and insufficient glue in the joint. This form of construction is obviously not reliable for travelling in harsh environments. I have taken full-size, all-wood guitars downriver many times in much hotter weather with no adverse effects.

.I purchased this to have something to pick around while I am relaxing and to sing with. It is poor qualilty sound, won't stay in tune and is not something I would ever enjoy playing. Returning it and then try out a parlor model.

.As an electric guitarist, it was a great first acoustic; being easy to get used to. But, after awhile I find it to be a bit simple. First of all it is no where near as loud as I would like it to be. My Baby-Grand Piano always overwelms this guitar when playing with a friend. It's OK when he plays along lightly on the piano. Also, once your strings get worn in a bit, seems like the sound deminishes. I have to put new strings on everytime I play with someone. People say that it's a great travel guitar; yeah, sure, but I can lift one that a bit heavier as well. The travel case is good though, if not a bit too tight fit. The guitar is very very lightly built and I'm afraid if I ever drop it, I'll damage something. So, to end this review, I'd say this is a good beginners guitar, and a good guitar for someone not looking for a big sound. Personally I'm going to sell or trade it in for a fuller scale model. A step up to the "Big Baby" is well worth it to me.

.This guitar plays like a guitar worth far more than you will pay. It's sound is controlled and boomy with solid highs as well as lows. It is a great instrument for anyone who just wants something smaller than the standard guitar. I love mine!
