Product Features

's 300 Series has introduced countless players to the pleasures of the all-solid-wood acoustic experience; it's the entry point to 's USA-made instrument line. Players who step up to a 300 Series instrument will be rewarded with a guitar-for-a-lifetime that will only sound better with age. It doesn't take but a few strums to learn how the mix of tone woods, construction and appointments combine to make 's famous playability, intonation and tone. The 300 Series has everything you need and nothing you don't need in a fantastic sounding and playing instrument. All 300 Series instruments ship in a deluxe hard shell case made by for optimal fit and protection.

Body Shape
A original, the Grand Auditorium helped establish the acoustic sound. The popular body style makes for a versatile guitar that yields ample volume in response to light fingerpicking, and reacts to medium strumming and flatpicking with a clear, balanced sound across the tonal spectrum. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the GA is an excellent choice.

Tone Wood Pairing
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Solid Sapele back and sides complement the top with a sound that's comparable to mahogany but with a slightly brighter sound featuring top-end shimmer, and balance across the tonal spectrum. Sapele responds well to a variety of playing styles and fits nicely into an instrument mix.

Electronics
's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in ’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is ’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before.

Together with ’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your guitar. The Expression System 2 operates through a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment and easy-to-use volume, bass and treble controls.

What sets Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

This is a good guitar (I have a couple variations of the 314). Fretboard is wide. Still fairly playable but not a beginners guitar. It stands out when playing with other instruments or singing. It's a professional version of a Yamaha 700 series. Different shapes but pronounced sound. This guitar passes some critical tests. Plays well up the neck. Strings 5 and 6 sound good when plucked alone. Decent sustain. It does ok in the studio but best live. It's a strong guitar and stands up to abuse. I'm not a good judge for the electronics so I'll abstain on that. Tuners are very nice. Not a glitsy guitar but the finish is consistent and I like it. Action comes a hair higher than I like but I don't mind it. My experience with this and other Chaylors is that it consistently sounds good. With Martins you can have a good or bad one. But good Martins are nice. If you're a guitarist this should be in your collection as a work horse. I was 12 when I heard this guitar for the 1st time. I had the opportunity to get this and jumped on it. If you like to play songs in a social setting this is perfect. Take it along and it will hold up for the task. Chaylors stand out when tried side by side with any guitar maker. Good guitar and good sound. Nothing more nothing less. It won't let you down.
Chaylor 300 Series 314ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar Natural
.Through the years I have explored and owned many models of the 100/200/300's series of Chaylor guitars and feel like I have a decent understanding of the sound delivery and playability across each series. I definitely 100% understand that the sound and feel of a guitar is a very personal choice, so choose wisely and to your liking. Overall the 314ce does not disappoint across the spectrum of desired traits a guitar owner should seek after. Although my audible preference leans a little bit more high end and crispy (214ce DLX Koa) the 314ce is bold, full, total, and consistent. The handling of the guitar is solid and strong. In addition there is just something about a USA made Chaylor guitar that provides a little extra stoke while playing it. Go ahead and get it. You know you want it.
