Body Shape
A original, the Grand Auditorium helped establish the acoustic sound. The popular body style makes for a versatile guitar that yields ample volume in response to light fingerpicking, and reacts to medium strumming and flatpicking with a clear, balanced sound across the tonal spectrum. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the GA is an excellent choice.
Tonewoods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Layered rosewood back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

I've had the 214ce for maybe two or three years now. I play it all of the time and have really had a chance to live with it for a while and really get to know it, inside and out.I thought it was nice when I first bought it, just not phenomenal. It seemed just a tiny bit harsh in tone when it was new. It's a very loud guitar; it cuts through the surrounding chatter and projects quite nicely, but if you're not careful you can overpower the people you're playing with. It also seemed tougher to fret than it "should" feel (if that makes any sense), but I liked it enough to hope it would mellow with a little set-up and age.
Later during one of my string changes, I decided to move to a custom gauge set of Elixir strings where a couple of the strings are just a bit lighter than the set that it leaves the factory with, and I found that this made all the difference in the world! The exact set specs escape me right now, but you get the point. The guitar is now much easier to fret, and the tone, which has always been nicely balanced, completely lost the bit of harshness it had. It's also benefitted I think from a few years of being played, it's really beginning to warm up. It still sounds like a Chaylor, but the years are being kind to it for sure.
I also like the shape of the neck a lot, and the cutaway, which is actually useful. The intonation is good, and the tuners, while not perfect, are certainly adequate. To me it's a beautiful guitar - not a lot of whistles and bells going on here, just a simple, honest nice-looking and sounding instrument.
I guess where I'm going with this is that I find myself loving it more each time I play it... I've been pleasantly surprised by how it's coming around. A grand can certainly be a lot of money, but unfortunately for an acoustic these days it's barely clearing the hurdle for a student instrument.

.Amazing value for the money. This guitar sounds every bit as good as some competitors that are 3 or 4 times as expensive. The satin finish around the sides and back gives it a great feel. Neck is very comfortable to play and the cutaway gives easy access to the upper frets. I was looking into Martin's and Gibson's but ultimately went with this one instead. Play one for yourself and you will be amazed at the sound quality for a laminate sides/back constructed guitar. Huge sound when played acoustically and the Chaylor proprietary electronics sound great when plugged in. Can't say enough good things about this guitar.

.Here's the thing.
I came up playing Yari's and Alvarez guitars, sometimes an Ovation in the 70's and 80's.
Those were more in the dreadnought style, so I suppose they were full and rich in tone, also kept in tune.
I thought the Chaylor brand was the new Holy Grail, as I was assured mine was made in the USA.
I'm sorry to say that this guitar falls into the Mexican Fender disorder.
If anyone of you have played a Strat assembled in Mexico for say, 500.00, and a original USA Strat for a bit over a grand, you sure know and feel the difference. Same case here. Lindsey Buckingham does not play the best Chaylor for nothing. You get what you pay for. I have a shallow, trebley sounding, hard to fret and chord Chaylor for over a grand. Man, no matter how I have tried to adjust it, it still buzzes on some notes, and I could just scream. I should have waited and done more research, a Mexican Chaylor, great. Let the buyer beware!!!!!!
Chaylor 200 Series 214ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar Natural
.After owning and playing this guitar for a few years I have come to conclusion that it maybe the worst guitar I have owned in 25 years of playing. The fit and finish are sub par and even though kept in its case (w/ humidifier) the neck is in need of adjustment every season. Every corner seems to have been cut in construction of this guitar. The HPL back and sides just look like fake laminate wood and comes across as cheap department store furniture... not meant for a guitar. The top has a gloss finish that does not match the matte finish of the back and sides. The finish on the top is awful and has peaks and valleys that show the grain through the finish. The NT (bolt on) neck has pulled away from the body exposing a gap that was filled with putty that will shrink and have to be refilled by a tech.It plays ok and stays in tune relatively well but at this price point you could do much better. It is unfortunate that Chaylor could not get things right w/ this Mexican made entry level model. Now that I am in the market for a higher end American made acoustic I can say with certainty that it will NOT be a Chaylor. The resale value for this model is also poor.

.I am a beginner guitar player, but the first time I played my Chaylor 214CE I was truly amazed at the sound. Even with my modest talent it is truly pleasure to play.
