Product Features

This Fender Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar guitar gives you a classically styled Jag with all the expected classic tone. You're going to have a hard time putting down this guitar's comfortable and lightweight offset-waist body, with its easy-playing 24" scale. Of course it has the Jaguar's famous (some say quirky) dual-circuit switching and controls. The floating-vibrato bridge is perfect for those wobbly arpeggios...dive bombers should probably move on. Under the hood are a pair of Duncan Designed pickups that ring out with immense chimey tone, but they can get nasty when you push 'em. The Jaguar has long enjoyed a cult-like status in Fender's lineup, and most of us have lusted after one, but were hard-pressed to shell out “Fender-Sized” bucks. Perhaps your wait is over.

This Jag's sound is enhanced by its basswood body, while the lightweight, offset design makes short work of your marathon gigs. Your shoulder will thank you for your wise judgment. But those very same sonic and ergonomic qualities also make the Vintage Modified Jaguar ideal for spicing your recordings with scrumptious, unique six-string textures.

Speaking of tone, Squier has spec'd their Vintage Modified Jaguar with a pair of Duncan Designed Jaguar single-coils, routed through the unique Jaguar switching system - which includes comprehensive preset control over two distinct circuits. This produces a superb (baffling?) array of tone colors from crisp and clear to warm and chunky. Thanks to this guitar's 24” scale, bending strings on this baby is effortless. Add to this, 6105 frets and a 9-1/2" radius rosewood fretboard, and you just might discover lead-playing abilities you never knew you had.

A word to the wise about the Jaguar's tremolo...When Leo and his crew developed the floating tree for the original Jaguars and Jazzmasters guitars and guitar playing styles were different. Back then, there was no plain, unwound "G" string. Trems like the Fender Floating Tremelo and the Bigsbys were used to add subtle shimmer and color to notes and chords. Wanking, diving and such weren't part of the musical vocabulary. The "break angle" of the strings on these Fenders was deliberately shallow, allowing for a more supple action. Strings were heavier and provided a lot more downward force at the bridge. We all love these guitars for how they look, sound and feel, but they are to be played in the manner in which they were designed. Those players that use super-light strings, play with a very strong attack, or use the term or in the style of EVH than Chet Atkins should be aware.

This specific guitar looks and plays great. It is free of any player's wear and has no dings or blemishes. All that our supplier did was to give it a little time on the buffing wheel, then it came directly to us where it has been given a complete "Post factory" setup.

About Our Setup:
This guitar played "well enough to sell" when it arrived here at LightSpeed Music. Still, I have just given it a complete "post factory" setup. First, the truss rod was checked and adjusted. Then the frets were leveled crowned and polished. These first two steps allowed me to lower the bridge and nut, and yet, still keep it completely buzz free. The fretboard was conditioned and the nut slots were lubed and polished. The electronics were tested and then given a protective application of contact cleaner and lube. Everything was snugged up and the guitar was polished. It received a fresh set of S.I.T. Power Wound strings gauged .010" to .046" and then the intonation was set. Now, this guitar plays very well and will please even the most demanding professional.
