Back to topI have to say when I first got these strings I was very disappointed. I did not like the twangy sound of the G string and I could not hear the tone well from the E and B string. But the Issues where because I had to re-adjust the bass and EQ settings. I have been a long time user of Roto 77 because of the open mid range tone. But when I put on these strings I found that these strings had less tension so I had to reset the bow and action;these strings have more than double the output so I had to actually set the EQ settings back. After the 2 week break in and some fast fret I found the strings where really balanced the B string has a really clean tone (reducing to a .125 had me a little nervous) but I found the string was not floppy at all and has a earth shaking low end. Playing cords are open and clear (not muddy). Now I play an Ibanez bass with carvin electronics and Bartolini pickups with coil tap. I found the best balanced tone character is when I use the 2 inside pickups because the B and E sounded different than the rest of the strings when I used the outside Pickups. My conclusion is that the band and audience are well pleased with the tone that I have now and they are easier for me to play which is an added bonus. I have had them now for 4 months and the tone has not changed. Play with a Church group and use ROCK tone
