This is a great piece for adding vintage vibe to your jazz bass. However, if you are going to put this baby on a mexican or on an american that doesn't already have the necessary mounting holes, get the 11-hole fender pickgaurd that already has the holes pre-drilled and use it as a template when drilling into the body. If you are going to go that far, then get the fender thumbrest too and put it in the tug-bar position (the 11-hole pickgaurd has these holes as well). Between the tug-bar (i.e. thumbrest) and the pickup cover, your favorite jazz bass will have the look of an authentic, vintage 60's axe.Fender Replacement J-Bass Pickup Cover Chrome
.I've installed 2 of these on my USA Jazz Basses. Install was super easy, just wish it came with mounting screws. Will make any bass look 1,000x better, classier. Also makes for practical thumb rest for finger-style playing.

Very cool, very easy to put on, really wish it came with screws, but they're cheap so no worries there. Haven't had an opportunity to really crank the volume and see if the sound has changed but I hear it doesn't make much of a difference in that regard.Fender Replacement J-Bass Pickup Cover Chrome
.Got this to replace a missing p/u cover on a used 4 string Fender Marcus Miller Jazz Bass that I purchased recently.
Fits great, sturdy, and looks good - can't say it adds much utility for my style of play though.

.The Pickup cover is i guess more for looks, but it makes for a great thumbrest. This product does not include the screws for attachment. I dont know what fender expects you to do. It took a while to find something that would fit. I also recommend the 60's jazz bass pickgaurd for easier placement. over all good product though! same (stuff) since the sixties

.Purchased this pick-up cover to be installed on my 2002 MIM Fender 5-String Jazz Bass. Unfortunately the cover is designed to be installed on a 4-string and is not wide enough for the extra width of the added "B" string. It will barely clear the width of the pick-up, but once the string is played it will vibrate against the cover. I will need to return the part for a refund or build up the area underneath the mounting area of the cover in order to clear the strings.
