I am a guitar luthier and have installed nearly every type of nut on the market. I put one of these on a good quality Strat with minimal tooling. All that was needed was some small routing to the nut slot and measuring to ensure the scale length (although you can fine tune at the saddles of course)was at 25.5 inches. It does an amazing job of maintaing tunning stabilty, however it WILL change your tone. I reccomend using locking staggard tuners and either a locking bridge (a non fine-tunning Floyd Rose type) or some good solid saddles with a good block and base plate with this if you're going to spend the money on it. As far as costs go, it is a bit expensive and as an alternative, I'd go with the MightyMite 42mm Roller nut. The last thing I'd like to say though, is that this LSR Nut is NOT a roller nut. It is simply two ball bearings that provide a slick surface for the strings to ensure there is no bindings. Personally, I like a true roller nut with roller saddles from a place like Guitar Fetish. But I do reccomend this nut as to keep a Fender part on an American Fender Stratocaster if that is important to your investment.

.I just recieved my new LSR Roller Nut in the mail and put it on my Strat Plus. It was an easy project and the results were fantastic! I only wish that I had done this sooner! The Wilkinson nut buzzing is gone. I didn't even need to use the included shims.......just screwed it on......the intonation was still perfect and the heigth of the nut was perfect......no adjustment necessary.

.I recently had a Strat stolen that I had upgraded with one of these and a set of Graphtech graphite saddles. I don't even play with a tremelo (had it blocked off so that it was essentially a hardtail) and this nut in combo with those saddles made that guitar a delight. It never went out of tune, which is incredible, given my Neil Young/Pete Townshend approach to guitar. I would seriously advise any strat player to upgrade both to this and the Graphtech saddles. I just came back across this page looking to upgrade my replacement guitar with the same two modifications.

.I have the LSR on a supped-up squire start I bought and it works great. Tuning is really smooth with the ball bearings. The only problem is when you take the strings off there's a chance the ball bearings could fall out. I've lost several bearings already, but I just replace them with some extras I bought. The LSR is a great nut, but if you get it I suggest you also get some extra bearings.

.I got this to replace the one I installed 15 years ago. The nylon cushion part that keeps the strings from rattling had finally deteriorated and was binding some of the strings and causing tuning problems. This new replacement nut fixed all of that.

.First of all...I do guitar repairs and hot rodding...even so, had I not had experience in such, the installation is simple. A little milling and screwing and viola!- There are complete, clear and good instructions included in the pack. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS READ. -I play a lot of classic metal and blues so I actually like a little higher action than most for string bending two to two and a half steps up, therefore, I actually place these nuts about 1/64" higher than it recommends. These are a high grade, low friction (0.13% applied) set of bearings (WITH BRACKETS TO HOLD THEM IN - DON'T BEND THEM AND THEY WILL NOT FALL OUT!)In time you will want to use trace amounts of, say, holton rotary oil or even a little bit of chapstick on the nut and the underside of your string trees. This is perfect for the player looking for a trem-agressive style without sacrificing lots of sustain and tuning. I praise Fender for this piece. It is worth the money. If you do not believe me - email me.I do not recommend these for Floyd rose trems or guitars without locking tuners (grover locking rotomatics!!!)These are very nice with the Tune-o-matic and bigsby's too.

.I had a professional luthier put one of these, a floyd rose, and locking tuners, on my strat. The tuning was then MUCH more accurate and stable than any guitar I have tried with the typical floyd rose and locking hex nut approach. Why aren't all guitars made with these nuts?

.This (in addition to lockable tuners) seems to me the thing you can't go without if you want to touch the tremolo arm on your strat and still play in tune. Of course, it changes the sound (not so much to my ears), but do you actually need that reference strat sound without a bit of your own identity?

.I have this on my mahogany strat and I love it. It works as well as my floyd rose without the trouble. All you need to do is put a little lubricant or even chap stick when you change the strings to keep it working perfect because obviously if you dont maintain something its not going to work. With this, my locking tuners and a floating bridge I'm all set to play anything

.At first I was thinking about getting a new guitar with a Floyd Rose because I use the whammy bar a lot. I play a lot of Van Halen so tuning has always been a struggle. I got this nut installed on my strat by the guys at the local music store. I do not suggest trying to install it yourself since it is a very sensitive process. I like how easy it is to change the strings compared to a Floyd Rose tremolo. Overall, my guitar stays in great tune. I recommend removing the string guides between the nut and the tuners though because that creates a lot of unwanted friction that ruins your tuning. I am thourougly impressed with this part and now my strat is worthy of my shredding destruction.
