While the electronics and sound mimic the 50's Telecaster sharp treble bite the string set up leaves a lot to be desired. A large gap between two of the strings because the bridge pieces were not milled right to begin with. The 1st and 6th E strings were adjusted way out of shape to get the right level for the strings. Intonation is way off. Someone at Fender let this one slip through out of plain laziness or incompetence. This is not acceptable.Fender Classic Series '50s Telecaster Lacquer White Blonde
.I went to a couple guitar shops looking for a Strat, ended up trying some Teles, and found that I actually preferred the feel of a Telecaster! Was originally looking for something relic'd (I know, I know..) and the only one in my price range was the Road Worn, of which I've heard mixed reviews.. Anyways, I stumble upon THIS Tele with a Nitro finish! This finish is beautiful and will age with personality as Nitro wears away easier than the Poly finishes Fender uses on most of their guitars nowadays. I can't overstate how gorges this instrument is! It also feels different than most other guitars. The Nitro on the neck is a tad sticky - I know that sounds like a negative but I'm betting the more I play this thing, the more it will wear down to how I want it.
The guitar sounds GREAT! A lot of great tones to be found within such a simple setup! I did find the pickups to be a bit harsh around the edges but rolling back the tone and volume slightly fixed most of this. All the hardware is good to go and the guitar is pretty well set up out of the box. I'll probably get it properly set up in a week or so but it's not bad at al now.
