I have owned my SRV strat for about 4 years now, and I am still as in love with her as the day I took her home. The quality on this guitar is just awesome, Every part of the guitar is just perfect. I especially like the feel of the fat neck. The pups sound sweet and give out great tone. I mostly play blues and classic rock, and this guitar works great for that. The gold hardware really spices the look. To make mine look a little more like Stevie's, I bought a "custom" sticker just like his #1 has right below the bridge. I got it off ebay and that really adds to the look as well. I also did a little personal customization which is very minor, but I changed out my white pickup selector switch tip with a black "top hat" style tip from a tele. I personally like this minor change. Anyways, overall I absolutely love this guitar and I will never sell mine. I will have it until the day I die.

.I absolutely love this guitar. I love all things strat actually. They are the only guitars that ever just feel right for me. The only negative I have about most strats are that the narrower necks make it tougher on guys like me with big chunky hands. This neck does not present that problem, and the TS pups just sound great. I don't run a boatload of effects. I just use a good amp and plug it in. You can get a great variety of tones out of it. It is a little heavier than most strats, but I'm a bit over 200 lbs so it's not a problem for me. It does have higher action than most any other strat you will find, so be mindful of that. Overall you can't go wrong just get a pair of .11's or higher and let this sing. You will not find any non custom strat like this period. Just keep in mind you're going to need some finger strength to get stevies sound, with the bigger strings. If you like spaghetti strings, you will want to test it before buying.

.Look if you play country or blues this guitar will give you the correct sound. Next, the neck is very comfortable. If you have done research the neck is described as a thick oval and it is a bit thicker however I play with my thumb over and have no problem (I?m 6 foot tall). Also the trem takes a little getting used to but no big deal.

.I tried it out of curiosity to see if it had the SRV mojo. It didn't really impress me at all. The pickups sounded weak and had no real punch to them. Maybe I am just too used to active pickups like on the Clapton strat, but the SRV just didn't do it for me. I think to get a real good sound out of it you need fat strings like SRV had on his strats.

.i have this guitar for 3 or 4 years now.everything it`s excellent, sound, good body wood(i striped it to a relic form),aged the pickguard and knobs.my only real problem was with the setup and especially with the neck.the frets need to be polished and leveled,it will not allow you to do heavy bends without fret leveling and high action.light strings will sound too bright,i have equipped it with 012.all my guitars have 010.my personal opinion is that the guitar is really close to custom shop ones and if you have the time or the money do relic it.it will really improve the sound because you will loose the thick polyurethane paint.you can let the inner lair on so it will keep moist away.thanks

.This guitar is by far my favorite of all my guitars. I have been able to get so many different sounds from it - blues, surf, rock, jazz. I bought it through a local shop that did a free setup for me at time of purchase. It has become the guitar I compare all others to. Sustain that lasts all day. Beautiful tone, and beautiful to look at. Of course, I'm not crazy about the "cheesy" pickguard, but I don't want to take the chance of messing up the tone by changing anything on it. If you are looking for a great strat do yourself a favor and play one of these.

.I just recieved my SRV strat for christmas about a week ago, and I absolutely love it. I also love the fact that its an 1989 model, It has already replaced my american series hss as my main strat the neck feels so much better and I love the vintage tuners take about 2 minutes for me torestring it and tune it. The pick ups sound amazing, anyway I think stevie would be proud that his name is on these guitars there playability and sound do him justice

.I got this guitar in a very timely manner by Custom Guitar's Friend, and at first I was really let down. The reason being, I had never had a guitar with 8 screws so my pickguard was "lipped" up off the guitar on almost all the ends, but I contacted Custom Guitar's Friend and they're sending me a new pickguard so I'm not so upset about that. The setup was absolutely vital in order for this guitar to work for me, which prior to, had a high end, ugly, undefined sound that reminded me nothing of SRV. So, firstly I put in raw vintage springs and put the bridge back on the body. I had fiddled with the pickups and tried to get a good sound but was kind of unhappy, I felt like there was no body to speak of in the sound, but still better than when the bridge was not tightened against the body. So I ended up checking the string height and saw that the strings were not to spec (4/64) in a couple of odd places like the A-B strings, which were higher than both e strings. So I lowered those middle strings to be to spec, and to my utter surprise, that was what helped more than anything. The frequencies felt like they had "rested" and the guitar was noticeably darker, while at the same time having much better harmonic content. Now that I could feel and hear the frequencies naturally sounding in place, I was able to find a sweet spot with the pickup height. Without hardly trying the guitar would absolutely scream when popping the strings, but were mellow enough now to sound pleasing clean, in fact I quite like the clean sound now. That said, the guitar is inherently very defined and articulate, so hot pickups like texas specials in this guitar could be a recipe for disaster if not setup right, it's important to know what you want the guitar to sound like and to not be afraid to measure and put to fender spec, if that's your preference. In my case it worked out extremely favorably. I was extremely upset at first when I got this guitar, but with some love I found the guitar sings beautifully.

.A bandmate of mines wife bought him an SRV for his birthday. After him letting me use it for a gig, I must admitt I am a little disappointed in the craftsmanship of this guitar. The action at the neck nut is way too high..when I play lead and bend strings you can hear the other strings go lower in pitch due to the neck or the trem giving. Where the strings meet the bridge on the trem, the gold tone plating is already chipping off. The pickguard lookes warped between each screw (you can see under the pickguard a tiny bit.) I would hope that this guitar is a fluke compared to the others that fender makes of this great signature SRV. I would come to expect greater quality components from fender. This has totally turned me off to purchasing this guitar. I would most likely buy a 50th Anniversary if I would have a choice.
