Designed to sound as close to the original as possible, the ˜65 Reissues are assembled in Corona, California and feature Jensen speakers (One C12K for the Deluxe and two C12Ks for the Twin, four P10Rs for the Super and one C10R for the Princeton), Schumacher transformers, traditional tremolo and tube-driven reverb to create that classic, "Blackface" sound so many players desire. They do have PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards), as opposed to the original's "hand-wired" circuitry, but the components (capacitors and resistors) are the same values as amps from that period. They also have hand-wired tube sockets and other parts for added strength.
Tonal Characteristics: Bright, scooped midrange that is known as the "Blackface" sound, pronounced "Wine Glass" highs from the Jensen speakers and a slightly more polite power amp for crystal cleans that can also be cranked for great overdriven tones.

My tale of woe begins about a week ago. Curtis, of talkbass.com fame, put up for sale the most beautiful bass that I have ever seen, and being a bass player full of wanton lust for more bass gear, I had to have it. Unfortunately, I'm happily married man, so I asked my wife if it would be okay to buy Curtis' bass.She said no.
That's not surprising. I just bought a bass amp and don't really have the smack for another bass.
Still, I desperately wanted Curtis' bass, and so I concocted a scheme to have it for my very own, and after much cajoling and persuasion, my wife agreed to let me buy Curtis' bass if I could raise the money by selling some of my other gear.
"How about selling your Fender Vintage Reissue '65 Deluxe Reverb Guitar Combo Amp?" she said.
"No!" I cried. "Not my Fender Vintage Reissue '65 Deluxe Reverb Guitar Combo Amp!"
Even though I'm a bass player, I've always said that someone would have to pry that amp from my cold dead fingers. It's a lifer. The Fender Vintage Reissue '65 Deluxe Reverb Guitar Combo Amp is an amp you keep forever.
The tone is unbeatable, it's loud, it is as clean or dirty as I want it to be, the size is perfect for moving from gig to gig, and it has sentimental value because I stole it from a close friend.
She shrugged. "Do you want Curtis' bass or not?"
I shifted uncomfortably in my chair and pondered while my lovely wife cleared the dinner table. "I could sell my electric guitar," I offered.
"What?" she said. "Then you won't have a guitar to play through your Fender Vintage Reissue '65 Deluxe Reverb Guitar Combo Amp. What good is an electric guitar amp without an electric guitar?"
"Don't care," I said. "At least I'll still have my Fender Vintage Reissue '65 Deluxe Reverb Guitar Combo Amp."
My wife stared at me the way she did the time I nearly burned the house down with a Smores Pop Tart. "Good luck with that."
So that's what I'm doing. I'm selling my electric guitar to help fund the purchase of a bass because I can live without the guitar, but I can't live without the Fender Vintage Reissue '65 Deluxe Reverb Guitar Combo Amp. Best amp ever.

.This amp is so amazing, I'm giving it 5 stars even though I had a couple issues (both fixable).
First: There is a service bulletin about the tremelo. Mine sounded like a motorboat. A tech fixed it under warranty. No charge.
Second: Unless your amp is virtually silent at idle (as it should be), chances are there are some bad pre amp tubes. I was hearing an annoying hiss in both channels and a bad hum in the reverb. Got on the inter- webs and looked for suggestions - Result -put Stevie Ray's fave 5751 in V1 and V2 (This immediately got rid of the "too bright" sound and warmed the overall tone.)
Stuck balanced NOS Mullard 12AT7s in V3 (reverb driver) and V6 (Phase Inverter).
Also replaced V4 (reverb return) with a better version of what was in there. Didn't touch V5. Also didn't touch power tubes or rectifier.
The first time I played this thing with the new tubes I wanted to weep. Every bit as delicious as my Silver Face Princeton. And just as quiet at idle. It has taken it's rightful place as my favorite amp.
There are a lot of haters out there who want to mud mouth anything with a PCB - I guess because the originals were point to point hand wired... but this thing is unreal sounding. And, if the circuit board ever does take a dump after the warrant expires, I will have somebody do a PTP hand wire on it and I guess it will be same as the original then.
So, yeah, it took a little effort to get this thing where I wanted but I have been handsomely rewarded. I will try to find a way to take this one with me when I go. LoL.

.This is, without a doubt, the most incredible clean sound anywhere. The reviews are neverending. I don't often take the time to write reviews which is hypocritical because I rely on them heavily in making informed choices. If you are seeking a flat out great clean amp without the need for ridiculous headroom (this covers most of us, really), this is THE AMP. I have owned most brands of low powered amps, solid state, hybrid and tube. The DRRI blows them all away. The full tubes make an amazing difference.
I don't tend to use much overdrive. A Boss Blues Driver is sufficient for my needs. I run a compressor and chorus as well. For other effects, I have started with a Zoom G3 (highly recommended as well). This amp really does not need any effects. Simple to use and a joy to play. My American tele, strat, and Les Paul all sound amazing through this amp... I now have to catch up.
If you are reading many reviews and are looking for a great clean tone, get it. I will not be looking for another amp. In the end, you will spend more time playing.

.The amp is designed to be run on 5 or higher. 6-7 is the sweet spot. Never mind all the myths you read online about the tubes, stock speaker, etc. Go with it stock and break it in at blue-collar volumes. The stock GT 6v6's are rebadged JJ's - same tube, I promise. Hit the front end with quality overdrive and whatever else strikes your fancy, then revel in the warm 3D overtones. Remember, channel 2 is a different animal and has a very bright character until the volume is past 5, then it's very close to channel 1 in tone. If you're using effects and cannot turn up very loud with your band, use channel 1. It is fuller and warmer at lower volumes. Enjoy!

.I just recently acquired a new 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue. It took me back to the day I got my first Deluxe Reverb. The sweet rich sound is unmistakeable.
Now for the technical stuff:
This amp is a 22 watt, 2 channel amp. There is no channel switching. If you want channel switching, try a Super Sonic 22. Same size but has the channel switching. Make sure you know what you want. Don't buy and bad mouth this amp because you don't have what you want. This amp was originally designed back in the 60's when channel switching, FX loops and master volumes were not thought of yet. This amp is pure and simple. That is what it's designed to do. If you want distortion, use a pedal. That's the way they did it in 1965. As for it being a PCB, get over it. PCBs are a production standard. Still the same circuit as the original.
This amp, as well as the Super Reverb and Twin Reverb reissues, are the creme de la creme of the fender lineup and some of the most sought after amps by both amateur and professional players. The Deluxe Reverb has the honor of being the most recorded amp in history. There is a reason for that. It's that Good!
If you are a pedal junky, and love a great sweet rich clean tone to build your sound off of, this is the amp to do it. Not ear splitting, just pure tube goodness. If you need more power, try the twin reissue, I've been playing for 44 yrs now and have never heard one of those turned up enough to distort the tubes. If you do, you'd better be wearing earplugs! Buy the Deluxe Reverb for the amp she is. You will not be disappointed. This amp will satisfy every type of music, except for the metal stuff.
You can't go wrong with pure tube sound. I own an arsenal of fender amps from a Superchamp X2, Blues Jr., Deluxe VM, and a Bassman 250. This will fit in nicely and I plan on using it for my Country group both playing gigs and recording with it. It is now definitely my go to amp. Try one, but make sure you know what you are wanting in an amp. This amp sounds great, clean. Put pedals in front of it (like in the old days when life and electronics were simple) and rock out! Great tone at a great price!

.I was trying out some guitars at the local guitar barn and plugged into the closest amp. It seemed like every guitar sounded really good that day. My attention turned to the amp, it was the Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb. It had been a long time since I heard an amp that sounded like that, not since the early '70's when I first started playing guitar and owned some old beat up Fender tweed style amp. I left with a guitar that day but couldn't get that amp off my mind. On my next trip to the guitar barn I was browsing and saw a slightly used Deluxe Reverb with a very nice discount. I plugged into it and back came the memories of my first amp again. The warm clear sound, the sound you only hear on records from the 60's. I've always bought nice guitars but skimped on a good amp, then it hit me....I NEED THIS AMP! I got it home and started plugging different guitars into it, they all sounded good. I own 40 or so guitars and everything I threw at it sounded so good. It was easy to dial in beautiful tones. I've spent a lot of money on guitars, pickups, pots, caps, hardware, and other upgrades but nothing helped more than finding an amp that compliments the guitar plugged into it. All my single coils, humbucker's, hollow bodies, solid bodies sound good. I did some research to see what makes this amp tick...Made in USA, tube reverb, tube vibrato, tube rectifier (had to look up what that meant!) BUT only 22 watts? Guess that doesn't matter because this amp can get loud but not overpowering. I think maybe the Jensen C-12K has a lot to do with the overall sound. This amp gets a lot of glowing reviews and I can see why. I use the basic pedals with it, a tube screamer for overdrive, and delay when needed for rockabilly or for some subdued slapback, but no need for a pedal for reverb or tremolo, the built in ones are too good to use anything else. The stuff my group plays is easily covered from Jazz to Country, Blues, Classic Rock it does it all very well. Maybe not heavy metal but I don't do any of that so who knows. NOTE: It doesn't have an overdrive channel, no mid controls, no bright switch, BUT I think this makes the amp easy to dial in the sound it has, sometimes less is more.

.I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to get this amp. I'm 45 years old and I've been playing for 30 years. I've played through tube amps since 1985 and owned some very nice ones along the way (marshall, mesa boogie, fender, peavey classics). None of those amps could hold a candle to this one.
The 65DRRI has such a pure sound to it. I forgot how nice it is to just plug straight into the amp and play. This amp is changing my playing for the better, my tehcnique and timing have more finesse. I thought I'd want use my pedal board with this amp but I've dismantled it and plan on getting rid of it. If I were to use pedals; it would be a tuner, overdrive and a boost.
I'd like to thank all of the people before me who took the time and effort to write a review. I read every one of them and your reviews convinced me to buy this amp.

I used to be a point to point snob, not anymore. This amp delivers the goods, jaw dropping mouth watering that is a pure to joy to listen to everytime you play through it.
The price of this amp is definitely worth every penny. I got rid of a lot of gear to get buy it (3 amps and a 52 RI tele) and never regretted it for a second.

.WoW-O -Im extremely impressed with this amp. It Sounds beautiful, especially cranked - I know, what about "the sparkle" and the clean sounds and all that, which these amps have in spades - but the Deluxe Reverb belongs to Rock and Roll. I don't think there is a production amp being made today that sounds better cranked, all on its own with no processing and pedals. The build quality of these amps is BRILLIANT. I've heard some people complain about "PCB construction" but that's really a non issue. My hobby is building vintage tube amp clones and The Fender Vintage Reissue amps are built about 95% the same as they always were.In the few ways construction differs it has been mainly been an improvement. The board components, for instance, are laid out pretty much the same as they always were, but are connected with copper traces embedded in the plastic circuit board instead of by individual wires soldered to connection terminals. The new amps win here - the traces are much better insulated and protected (and the runs are shorter) than the old style wiring but the circuit topology remains the same. The tube sockets are chassis mounted and chassis (point to point) wired. Sure the quality and purity of materials (such as rare earth metals used to make components) has gone down as cost has gone up, but in many ways parts today are better. Electrolytic capacitors are much better now. The transformers are Shumachers just like in the 60's. All in All this made in the USA Deluxe Reverb is a fantastic amp that sounds 100% authentic.

.I play jazz guitar and I wanted an amp that can give me a traditional jazz tone. This amp delivers. This is a wonderful amp with the glorious tube sound. It's a great quality amp and it gave me the tone I was looking for. I have no complaints or drawbacks about this amp. This is a wonderful, great amp. This amp is not reserved only for the rock, blues or country guitarist. This is also an incredible jazz amp for the jazz guitarist.
I love the two channel inputs (the ability to plug two guitars at the same time or one guitar and one ipod for aebersold jazz back up tracks). By plugging my ipod into one of the channels I can jam to a full band with the aebersold back up tracks.
The tone knobs are simple/straight ahead (no mids, just the basic controls). However, the simplicity is what I like about this amp because it gives me the pure jazz tone I want.
The quality is great. All the material used seems like it's really good quality.
I think the amp is worth it's price. Yes it's expensive, but it is a very valuable amp. I consider this amp one of the best amps I've ever played.

.I really don't like to write a negative review since I've been playing Fender products for over 8 years and love that Fender tone, but I feel that I need to give some perspective to any pro or semi-pro players out there that are considering this amp.
I readily admit that I may have a lemon on my hands, so please keep that in mind too. I am a professional recording and gigging guitarist. I've used this amp three nights a week pretty much every week since I bought it in October of 2013, as well as in the studio, recording for various clients. The amp has a really cool tone and takes pedals well, however, it broke down on me three months after I bought it, right during a gig. I had it fixed (to Fender's credit they have a great warranty) and it's done well for a few months until recently on a recording session it again started having problems. As a professional, you depend on your gear and need it to be consistent. Unfortunately I don't think I can rely on this amp anymore.
I love the Fender tone, but just don't like the reliability of this particular product.
