I bought this to replace my frontman 212R and Mustang IV. I like the simplicity of the frontman and it had a good clean tone to work with, however this champion 100
is LEAPS AND BOUNDS BETTER. They actually put in an audio taper pot and replaced the linear pot that would jump from 1 to about 5 in volume. The champion has great volume control. I also have the mustang IV 2x12 combo and I think the Champion 100 sounds better. how you ask? simple. THEIR IS NO MORE DIGITAL HISS IN THE AMP MODELING. I loved the bassman model in the mustang, but could never get passed to trailing off digital hiss. what ever Fender did, they fixed it here. Ive had trouble finding the EXACT amp models for this amp online, so I will post them here. they are Tweed Bassman, Tweed Deluxe (clean), Tweed Deluxe (dirty), Tweed Champ, 65 Twin, 65 Deluxe, 65 Princeton (clean), 65 Princeton (dirty), 60's British Clean, 60's British Dirty, 70's British, 80's British, Fender Super-Sonic, 90's Metal, 2000 Metal, and "jazzmaster" (Roland JC120). It has a whole lot of effects and a GOOD SPRING REVERB WITH THAT FAMILIAR "PLUNK" SOUND. The amp also responds well to rolling off the volume. I took a chance with this amp and it payed of great. Im very happy with it, as I hardly ever feel compelled to write reviews. A WORD OF ADVICE! THE SPEAKERS NEED TO BE BROKEN IN! Put a HEAVY blanket over this thing and crank it for a bit. It sounded a bit "cold" until the speakers were broken in, but after that, WHOA. If it were lost or stolen I would grab another in a heart beat. This amp is going to go up in price when it catches on. Do some research on its channel and FX switching. Very useful and handy. For being a solid state amp, it catches the Fender tone GREAT. Easy 9.5 out of 10 in my book. Ive recorded with it as well with GREAT results. I run the PRE OUT to my computer and use Kemper IR's with it. I know people wont believe me, but it sounds as god as my AXEFX standard in the fender realm. Dont beileve me? give it a try and prove me wrong! Conclusion, one happy camper here.

.Here's the follow up and, I'm very impressed! When I started playing over 40 yrs. ago and, Fender was what everybody was using and, we played them hard. At that time everything was tube powered no solid state amps had entered the market yet. Sure they sounded Great but, the tubes could be a pain, especially when 1 or more of them would give you problems. At that time you could buy tubes everywhere even at the grocery store and, tube testers were everywhere but, those days are gone and, the price of tubes has gone through the roof. Traveling with a tube amp is not a good deal for a giging musician SS amps are much more dependable in this dept. Studio work and, maybe tubes would be OK.
I love the Black Face Look of this amp, the sound is excellent, typical of what I expected from a Fender amp and, the effects sound Great! I also really enjoy the channel switching and, being able to turn the effects on or off with the footswitch.
I play in a Classic Rock/Country band so I load the first channel clean with a little reverb delay and, the second channel with crunch and effects also. It's a perfect setup, easy to use and setup is a no brainer. I recieved this amp on a Thursday and did a gig Friday with very little tweaking. As a working musician I apprecaite this simplicity because I have always felt that my time should be devoted to my performance and, not fiddling with knobs or settings.
This is a Great amp for a very reasonable price tag with the performance and, features that a novice or a professional musician would appreciate.

.Okay, let me start off by saying that I was extremely amazed with amp; from coming from a little Fender Mustang 1 (20W)for 2 years this was an insane upgrade and wouldn't trade this amp for the world.

The two channel system was new to me but one of the best things I have seen come from an amp because not only did Fender focus just as much on the distorted channel but they master the art of the clean sound and you really really can tell with this amp. I have heard people say that the clean sound is so good that you can play a acoustic through it and I am almost sure that's complete fact because when you hear it you'll know.

The amount of things that you can do with this amp is immeasurable, absolutely incredible. From the gain to the mids to the bass and trebble. The amount of control you have over your tone is massive. This is probably the best investment I have made into my guitar besides my guitar itself. If you like playing with spectacular tone get this amp, you won't be disappointed.

.First let me say I'm no expert on amps. But I did do my research like most people do on the internet and this amp came out on top for the money. When I was a kid, I played in bands. I put the guitar down, got married, raised kids and here I am 40 years later. At 57-years old I decided to get back into playing. For now I'm just jamming with classic rock songs I grew up with. Every now and then I play with some friends… no gig playing (yet).

I'm using this amp with a Fender American Special HSS Strat I bought new last year. At that time I also got the Fender Mustang I to practice with. Originally I just wanted some sound. It worked fine but now I wanted to take it to the next level since I realized I loved playing again.

Needless to say, this amp fits the bill perfectly. It's great to feel the compression from the 2 12-inch speakers again. With my 12-string acoustic sitting on a stand about 15 feet from the amp, I can easily get some strings to vibrate and play and that's with the volume about 2/3rds. I also knocked down a picture frame on a wall and set off some motion sensitive Christmas decorations… it cracks me up. I'm very pleased with the power, tone and the various effects.

It really seems to make my pickup switch on the guitar more sensitive (front to back pickups) as well as the volume and tone controls on the guitar.

Having the foot switch is real handy as I switch back and forth all the time from the clean channel to the distortion in middle of songs and also to the various effects.

Very happy with the purchase as you really can't go wrong with Fender amps and even more happy with size of the amp... I'm to old to lug huge amps around.

.I'm the owner of a Deluxe Reverb Reissue, which I really like - great sweet tube tone. However, it would get muddy on me when cranking it up, and breaks up pretty early. I was looking for something with more headroom and wouldn't break the bank. Something that would cut through the mix of a full band but not break up real early.

I liked this amp from the start - very light weight for a 2x12, and sounded pretty good by itself. First time with the full band and very pleased - plenty of headroom and sits in the mix really well. With a keyboard, drums, bass, another guitar, etc. - I really can't tell the tone difference at all between this and the DRRI. Sure - if you're playing alone or recording then the DRRI is certainly a step better in tone. But this is probably the closest you'll get to a Twin for a fraction of the price and weight!

.I purchased this amp to take to open mics and jam sessions where thief, beer spills and cigarette burns are not just probable, they're likely. I've owned a couple of solid state amps, but my passion is Fender tube power. I've got a few of the "holy grail" Fenders like a blackface Super and silverface Deluxe plus a few tweed clones (Cox Amps…RIP Brian Cox)…but, I don't dare take them out to play.

This amp will never replace my valve amps, but WOW this is great amp. It's a convergence of technology and cost effective production that is almost too good to be true. How could a solid state amp get such good reviews? It preforms like an amp many times its cost. But, it's not great because it's cheap…that's just the icing. This thing sounds great. I love the punchy clean tones of the Twin Reverb channel and even more the thick blackface tones on tap from the second channel. I could care less about the British tones, but here if you need them. The gain control sweeps from clean to super crunch without ear splitting volume, but that's on tap too. This amp doesn't push as much air as a real Twin, but it's pretty darn close.

The effects and effect combinations are well conceived and realistic and the included foot switch makes the cannel and effect switching easy and useful. The cosmetics are great and the weight is only 40 lbs.! If you own only one amp for practice, recording, and gigging this is it. The combination of portability, versatility and affordability, is unmatched in the market today.

.Excellent amp. I'm not a big tube guy anymore, and I really like what Fender has been doing with it's solid state stuff. Like the Mustang III I used to have, this one has several amp models and effects, but the Champion sounds a bit more analog. Of course, I'll never use all these features, but they're nice to have. The amp does have a couple of sweet spots.....The tone controls aren't like what I'm used to. Small adjustments to the treble, mid, and bass controls can affect each other, as well as the overall tone of the guitar, but the different amp models seem to make up for this, and I'm having no trouble getting great sounds. Also, I'm able to squeeze some fine guitar tones out of the metal amp settings by lowering the gain, which has been a problem with past SS Fenders......I never would've thought stock Fender speakers would sound so great, but these chalky-sounding speakers balance out the sterile SS feel of the amp tone, making it sound more tube-like, and I'm impressed.....The only drawback I see is that there's no external speaker jack in the back. I sometimes like to stack my combos on a 4x12 cab, and I can jury rig this amp, but I'd rather not have to. Also, it does tend to amplify electrical signals from other sources (noisy drills from the neighbor next door, or neon lights, for example), so you might consider a power conditioner for those unfamiliar bar gigs...Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase, and I recommend this amp to anyone--

.I was looking for a powerful clean (Fender type) sound and the occasional dirty for leads on certain songs. This amp has it. If I need a delay, then I use my delay pedal, not this amp's delay. The effects this amp offers may be desired by some but not me. I needed a strong powerful clean sound without having to spend a lot of money and this amp has it. My drummer told me that he felt like I punched him in the jaw with this kind of power. This amp is just what I needed and for a great price. Thanks again MF.

.This unit replaced the Fender Frontman 212 which was 199.00 just last year and now discontinued.
Adding effects and a useless 1/8" jacks is not grounds for a 33% increase in price..
Aside from the spring reverb nobody buys this amp for the effects..
Not a dignified move by Fender Executives
