Product Features

Reviewers have been singing the praises of the SR Premium basses since their introduction in 2011. Designed for the working pro, these instruments incorporate many high-end features and components without the boutique price tag. The SR1300E is one of the latest examples of what makes the SR Premium models such an outstanding value.

The SR1300E is a stylish 4-string bass that begins with a beautiful Ash and Walnut top/Mahogany body combination that produces a robust, full balanced tone. Features include a 5-piece Wenge/Bubinga Atlas-4 neck for superior stability and a rosewood fretboard with striking abalone oval inlays.

Sustain and string vibration are optimized by the innovative Mono-Rail V bridge system and super-smooth, hand-crimped medium frets—finished with the Premium Fret Edge Treatment—make this handsome bass as enjoyable to play, as it is to look at.

For electronics, the SR1300E comes loaded with two Nordstrand Big Single pickups. Designed to create a full, aggressive sound, Big Singles produce a powerful low-end without sacrificing the articulation associated with single coil pickups. Additional sound shaping is provided by an Ibanez Ibanez Custom Electronics EQ.

Equalization controls include a 3-band active EQ with a bypass switch and a mid frequency switch for the ultimate in tone management. When the EQ bypass is activated, the treble tone control knob becomes the global tone control for the passive circuit.

I have been playing guitar for many, many years. I have played in bands and jammed with some awesome professional musicians. Now I still love to jam but most of my playing is with the worship team for my church. We play a mixture of contemporary and traditional worship music every Sunday. I have always been a guitarist, but the last three years I have been playing Bass guitar most of the time. I love it. I did not have a decent Bass guitar to play, however. I was using a cheap Fender Squire P Bass. It was ok for what it was, it got the job done, but I needed something better. I have issues with my back and cannot stand and play a heavy bass guitar for extended lengths of time. Plus, I just wanted something that would play and sound better.
I did a LOT of research, let me tell you. I tried a lot of basses. In the end, I was very, very impressed with the Ibanez SR Premium series bass guitar. From all of the reviews I read and videos I watched on YouTube, I was about 97% sure it would be the best one for me. However, I had to do something I almost never do. I had to order it from Custom Guitar's Friend. Nothing against Custom Guitar's Friend, I order from them a lot, but when it comes to guitars, I always like to try it before I buy it. I had to order it because there is absolutely no store around me that caries this bass. So, I did.
Man, let me tell you. Impressed is not a good enough word! Right out of the box I was impressed. It came very carefully wrapped and packed. And when I sat down to tune it, believe it or not, it was only about a half step flat on all four strings. But oh....when I finally plugged it in, oh Lord, the tone! Every small adjustment of any nob or switch gives you a slightly different sound. Both my brother and I were very impressed. And this thing plays like butter! The neck feels almost effortless to play on and the frets are smooth and completely without any nasty edges. It is also very light, so even someone with a bad back is ok with it. LUV!
