This is the great Ibanez Tube Screamer at its most cost-saving incarnation. Do what you have to do, but I would recommend at least trying this thing out. It's a legend, and if you hate it, at least you will know. Better to at least have a frame of reference on the TS9 because things are going to get compared to it an awful lot.If you are looking for a Distortion/Booster, and you haven't developed a certain pickiness yet, this will be a great buy. The Distortion tone of the TS9 will make for a nice overdriven EL34 lead sound, when used on the clean channel. Also, if you do want to boost the dirty channel of a tube amp, this thing can do wonders. Slide the gain down to zero and max the volume. You will get a huge, loud tube overdrive. Why I like the TS9DX so much is that you can now dial in Four Levels of gain for this booster setting. You should be able to get some serious metal OD out of even the shyest tube amp. TS9+ being my favorite booster setting. If this thing has any drawbacks, it's that it's a little bit midrangey. Of course, that is the exact reason a lot of people prefer it. Also, I wouldn't call it flimsy by any means, but I can't quite give it a perfect score on quality. That's just based on comparison to EHX pedals, which are tanks. If you can't buy this pedal, try one out today. If you end up with a favorite overdrive elsewhere, at least you can compare it to a Tube Screamer, which most people are familiar with.

.Overall I think this fills a wierd void space. The TS9 I can see for players who seek that mild, warmish and smooth overdrive, and the OCD I can see for people who want hot overdrive with crunch and definition.

This pedal seems to do exactly what it states, it's like the TS9, but more, it adds more bass, more smoothness, and yes, more drive, but it just doesn't sound all that great. There's no crunch or definition, or tone in the hot modes, or at least not enough for me.
This thing is built like a tank, it take boss adapters, and the casing is just slightly longer than a Boss pedal which means it doesn't fit in my pedalboard very well. But no matter, I like the layout of the knobs, one of them controls the mode. It goes from regular TS9 to Hot to Turbo. The other controls are for drive, tone, and level.

It seems very versatile, but honestly it just doesn't get that hot. The mode switch only seems to increase the amount of bass. In turbo mode it's very hard for me to get tone out of even a single coil bridge pickup and the tone cranked to maximum. I never understood the point of the original, it just seemed to round out the sound a bit, but hardly adds any drive, this adds more drive, but it's nowhere near the levels of something you'd get out of an OCD for example.

So yeah, slightly hotter than the original, but doesn't go far enough. It fills a wierd void space in the guitar pedal world.
Quality of construction and sound is excellent. Too bad the sound doesn't really appeal to me.
Decent value, expensive, but miles more character than something like an SD-1.

.Overall, this pedal is great and no one would regret it. Its cheap enough for the wanna be's and has enough quality for the pros. It sounds good and reacts well. Overall, i would reccomend this to anyone.
I rate this pedal a 9 because everything on this pedal is great. The different modes are distinct and give different sounds and the controls are great. Now ur wondering why a nine? because i saw my friends carbon copy delay pedal and i was extremely jealous of that bright blue light. This pedalhas a very faint red light. So thats all...
The quality of this pedal is great. It offers a very strong body and thick knobs ur not accidently gonna bump. The pedal reacts fine to ur foot and it really fffeels firm.
Ill give this pedal an 8 cause its cheaper on ebay but i really cant hold it against it. I think i would pay for it again. so

.!
I'm not going into the details of the Ibanez TS9DX many of us has purchased one for the same reason it sounds fantasitic with my Blackstar HT5, but I would like to say that I received a excellent deal on this returned pedal that looked practically brand new.

Ibanez TS9DX Turbo Tube Screamer Effects Pedal
.Interesting pedal. The added selection of tones seem at first to be a great idea the problem is the tones aren't that usable. Maybe there are some who find a niche for the tones or maybe it works with their amps. I use mine with a non-master volume tube amp on the TS9 or + setting and it really brings out those classic rock tones without sounding like a distortion pedal. The other settings don't sound awful but just aren't tones that I think a person who is expecting this to sound like a classic Tube Screamer are looking for. Given the choice again I'd opt for the regular Tube Screamer.

.i used this pedal as a booster to a bit dirty amp... it could give you a heavy sound yet notes are expressive and clear... you can never go wrong with this pedal.

. The Turbo Tube Screamer is a really super deal and the various sounds it dishes out make me sound more like me!!There is nothing i dislike about this effects box.
Many available sounds and effects really versatile pedal.
Not too noisy even at concert volume.Adds alot to my overall sound.
Couldn't be a better vaue out there and I looked around a lot.

.Almost every concert I've been to (U2, Pearl Jam, Vince Gill, Lucero, Silversun Pickups, Eagles) I see this pedal in the guitarists' setups. There's a good reason why so many pro's use this peddle and its sound is great. While I don't know think I would spend the extra cash for the DX version instead over the normal one, TS-9's are some of the best pedals out there. I've owned this for years and play it with a Gibson Les Paul Standard, Epiphone Dot Studio, and Fender 72 Thinline Tele through either a Hotrod Deluxe or a Line6 POD and it always sounds great.

.I gave this to my son who is a musician. He was thrilled!
Ibanez TS9DX Turbo Tube Screamer Effects Pedal
.Got this pedal last week, didnt have much time to use it on my main amp yet (Crate VTX200S) but it already made my leads tear thru the band' sound ! I played it mostly on a super budget Univox 10w amp and even on that it sounds amazing for that 70's 80's crunchy sound. I was instantly tempted to try and learn Ted Nugent's Stranglehold, the Eagle's Life in the fast lane, Cheap Trick's Surrender, and others. It has THIS sound. You can either use it to boost your signal's volume with little distortion, or put the drive to max and even on a single coil it will be super crunchy. I will agree with the other reviews, the different modes dont have much use, to me at least.
