Smaller than I expected but I love it!

.Please note that, under CONS, I tried to clear the comments but the review software refused. It's sufficient to say that the tone pots are bad.

I'm a guitar player who needed a budget bass for recording. Honestly, at this price I was totally aware this bass might be just so-so, if not "sorry". I was wrong.
When I unboxed it the action was too low for a short scale bass and the intonation was totally off. The B, E, and A strings were buzzing like crazy. I saw that the nut was properly cut so i went after the bridge. I did a setup and intonation adjustments and she nearly instantly became a SUPER little guitar. No more buzzing. The action is fine. The neck is sweet.
My one serious complaint is the tone pots. Evidently the resistance value is wrong because treble to bass shunting is either on or off with no gradual sweep between that I can tell. I manage that with the tone settings on the amp, so it's not a big issue right now. Someday when it's time to re-string I'll change the pots.
To conclude, with proper setup I cannot imagine a better or even remotely comparable new bass at this price! I could not be happier.

.Great price, solid construction. Nice item to have.
Ibanez GSR Mikro 5-String Bass Guitar Black
.Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. Beware of MF's "Level II" blems...
-Neck pick up post bent (wobbles at it turns)
-Bridge P/U mutes entire bass when turned UP all the way
-Very cheap bridge, keep your action high, or buzz buzz buzz

If you are willing to put some work into this one, it could be a fun 5-stringer. A bit bummed about the lack of explanation, but it's not worth the return shipping.

.Needs to have action adjusted but I'ok wait till I put new strings on. It comes with round wounds and I will be putting La Bella Deep Talking Bass Strings on. Flat wounds, short scale. Not easy to find a quality 5-string flat wound in short scale.

.First advice to the novice bassist: Learn to play on a standard 34" scale bass (i.e., Precision Bass or Jazz Bass). This will develop better left hand skills.
If you are already a seasoned bassist who wants an incredibly easy to play back-up bass,
a guitarist that wants a bass that is easy to switch to on short notice...
or plagued with hands which are too small to handle large instrument, then the Ibanez Mikro Bass could be the absolute best choice for your playing needs.
With two pickups, that look like Jazz Bass pickups, the sound won't disappoint you either.
I tried one of these basses (the 4 string model) at a local music store and was tempted to grab, pay and run with it.
The only reason that I didn't give a 5 star rating is that I haven't had a chance to subject it to my "gig test."
I believe that Ibanez makes quality instruments that provide a lot of bang for the buck.
