Product Features

Ibanez' marvel of form and function, the S Series, continues to evolve for today's player. Cloaked in a dramatic burst finish, a rosewood fingerboard features jumbo frets. Lurking beneath the S Series graceful 3-D shape is mahogany specifically chosen for S Series instruments.

Light enough to amaze in terms of comfort, heavy enough to provide the tone and sustain that players expect from the S Series. As the originators of the thin, fast neck, the Wizard III neck is yet another achievement in playability, providing the kind of comfort that translates to responsiveness and speed.

Infinity pickups, along with 5-way switch, were chosen for the inspiring way they complement each other to create a wide pallet of tonal options that add fire, retain clarity, and improve sustain.

I'll start with how light this instrument is. I play with a church and various other performances including concerts. I can stand up on stage for anywhere 30 minutes to hours. I can comfortably stand up for the whole event with this thing around my neck. I bought this as a back up guitar, and I've ended up playing with it almost as much as my "work horse". The pickups are pretty bright and you can hear the tone change when you play with the toggle switch. Oh, the guitar looks totally different in person! It has a noticeable wood grain underneath the gorgeous color! Have gotten so many compliments on this guitar!

.This is a pretty nice guitar. The thing you have to remember is, it is an inexpensive guitar. The pickups in it were ok, but I had low expectations of them to begin with. They were actually a little better than I had initially expected. The color is beautiful though, and the guitar is well put together. I just changed the pickups and the strings, I did have some issues with the G string losing tuning. Could just be the strings were overdue. Even if not, the guitar was cheap enough that it really doesn't matter if I have to upgrade the machine heads. honestly the body and neck alone are worth the cost. I will say that I put the Seymour Duncan Sentient/ Pegasus combo in there, and the sound is awesome. A huge improvement, if metal is your go to sound.

.I am an Ibanezhead. I have 16 of them, ranging from a 73 2398, to an 81 Artist, to a 91 RG770.... and so forth. I KNOW guitars. Been doing it for near 30 years, so yeah, I know a thing or two about them.

The 521 is a Indonesian made instrument, most likely from the Cort factory. Cort has built some of the best from Korea for Ibanez, and this one follows suite. The Wizard III neck is a joy to hold! The satin finish feels downright naked in in your hand. Notes played can be felt in the fretting hand. That's a good sign. Even clean, some notes fall into almost feedback. It's hard to describe, but when the fundamental note fades, the harmonics still remain. Another VERY good sign. The nut is cut perfectly, the fretwork on the 24 frets is typical Ibanez; darn near perfect, and the tuners are quite smooth.

Bodywise.... it fits you like a glove. Light weight, contoured to your curves, and very comfortable either standing, or sitting. Finish, once again, typical Ibanez, and will deflect most thrown objects with nary a scratch. And the hard tail bridge makes tuning issues a thing of the past.

The electronics and Quantum pickups are wonderful! Pickups use a ceramic magnet that makes them brighter then others. Not necessarily a bad thing, but some may not like that "crispness" . BUT use the tone control before changing out the pickups! It does wonders, without getting all muddy. The 5 way switch, is another joy in this two pickup guitar. Some very useful tones abound,, especially with use of the vol and tone controls, and whatever rig you are using. they really can pick up the dynamics of your playing. From Jazz and blues, to heavy metal, this can fulfill your needs.

.This is nice guitar and looks really cool. The pickups are ok, but I change string next day, don't like that "crispness" and sound became much better. But between the 7th and 12th fret it buzzing, that I don't like. Previous I had PRS 24 custom and I have never had buzzing strings issues. Of course ot was cost almost twice than this guitar.
