Product Features

For 25 years the SR has given bass players a modern alternative. As its popularity has expanded, the iconic series continues to excite with its smooth, fast neck, lightweight body and perfectly matched electronics.

The SR755 is a handsome 5-string bass designed with the working musician in mind. The Mahogany body, combined with a Bubinga top, creates a warm balanced tone that is punchy and articulate. Bubinga is an excellent tonewood with qualities and has become known for its responsiveness and resonance. The SR755 sports a 5-pc Jatoba/Bubinga SR5 neck and a Rosewood fretboard, embedded with elegant Abalone oval inlays. An Accu-cast B305 bridge provides excellent string vibration transfer and precise intonation.

For electronics, the SR755 features Nordstrand CND pickups in a classic P/J combination, a versatile setup almost indispensable for the working musician. Specifically designed for Ibanez, these passive pickups deliver a very present tone that easily punches through any mix. Equalization controls include a 3-band Active EQ with a bypass switch for precise tone management.

I've been looking for a light weighted 5-string bass guitar that has a P/J pickup combination for awhile now. Before the SR755 I would have to spend at least 2x the amount of money to get a bass with this much quality. I'm a fan of the 80's and this bass can really take you there: p-bass grunt with a bit of bite. Leave the pickup blend in the middle and you can get that unique scooped slap tone.

The Nordstrand pickups are right on the money to get all the useful tones that you would typically want. I'm also a believer in the "reversed P" split coil where the E&A coil is placed closer to the bridge. Even while soloing the neck pickup you can still get wonderful clarity on the B-string. Sounds almost like a piano string. The passive tone on both pickups is very classy, and dropping into active mode gives you a wonderful array of musical shading. There is hardly a 'wrong' setting.

The wood in the SR755 bass is beautiful, resonant and responsive. It blends with the Nordstrand pickups perfectly. For a comparison I also bought a SR655 in the natural ash color to see how much difference there would be. I have to say that the 755 has way more depth in tone, especially in passive mode, and the playability is better too. Wood matters!

No other bass I own plays this easy: I love a tighter string spacing and the weight is in the 8 lb. range so I can play 4+ hours and not kill my shoulder.

Way to go Ibanez!

.I need a quality bass that I'm not afraid to take into small venues. The SR505 has worked very well. The SR755 sound is even better for classic rock and blues, with the P/J set up. I take both basses with me for less than a third of the cost of the bass I leave locked up at home. The SR755's neck, electronics, and finish are very good. I play for up to four hours a night without fatigue. There is nothing I can't do with this bass.

Great Nordstrand pickups, solid very comfortable body, thin fast neck, looks great, plays great, sounds great in a variety of styles, good preamp with a passive bypass switch! Keep on playing when your battery dies friends...a very cool feature not to be underestimated! I wouldn't trade mine for anything.
