Product Features

The Ibanez Tube Screamer, in its many versions and forms, can be found on pedal boards across the globe. Its warm overdrive is a sound many players, from advanced to beginner, can't be without. The hand-wired deluxe TS808HW Tube Screamer offers even more capability and was built with the pro musician in mind.

Encased in a special, heavy-duty metal box, the TS808HW pedal is hand-wired with select JRC4558D IC chips (same as the revered and often-imitated TS808) and uses Japanese high-end MOGAMI OEC cable (AWG21). Equipped with true bypass, this Tube Screamer sends pure guitar excitement to your amplifier with no tonal loss whatsoever. This is, by far, the most evolved Tube Screamer pedal Ibanez has ever created.

I own a TS9, TS808 reissue,as well as numerous other pedals (Fulltone, Klon Centaur, ZVex,to name a few. To my ears, the TS808HW sounds the best for my style of music (blues and classic rock). All my guitars sound great with this pedal(Fender Stratocaster, Gibson Les Paul, Gibson SG, Hamer Special, and my trusty old Danelectro. Play thru a Blues Junior NOS, Fender Deluxe Reverb, or Carr Mercury. If you like the Tube Screamer sound, you owe it to yourself to try the TS808HW. A bit pricey, but built like a tank and worth the money, in my opinion.
Ibanez TS808HW Tube Screamer Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal
.I kept reading that the original TS808 was THE box of choice for SRV, Billy Gibbons and others I admired, so it was on my short list to buy someday when I could afford it. Now I have it and I can tell you it's worth every penny. You can start with a seemingly transparent sound and add in that little extra bite that makes your guitar sound special, then dial in the power all the way to scream. The sustain can be amazing, even at very lower volumes. It all depends on how you set it.

I would have been happy to get the regular version, but when I discovered there was a hand wired version I spent the extra money to get that because my guitar deserves it. SO happy I did.
Everything you need and nothing more.
Built like a tank.
For a hand wired pedal that was already great... yes, it's worth it.

.This pedal is another great tube screamer. Hits the mark for warm screamer tones.

BUT, don't be mislead by the JRC4558D Chip in it. Most tube screamers have this chip. There is one in the TS-7, I'm looking at one right now in my old Arion Tubulator pedal, and they are in many tube screamers.

Vintage tube screamers sound good, partly from the chip, and party from the caps and other components seasoning over time.

This pedal set against any new tube screamer is great, but set it next to an early 80's ts808, it doesn't compare.

Good sounding pedal, but you're paying for the "Hand Wiring," not the chip and the tone. I reccomend for this price just looking at the standard ts808, or getting a ts9 or ts7 and modding it.
Ibanez TS808HW Tube Screamer Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal
.This is a very nice pedal but it's overpriced in my opinion. I like the Keeley modded version and the Analogman modded version better. I will say that this is the best non modified TS808 I have ever heard... even against the originals. Great for blues, classic rock, and rock. It's a nice pedal but I would recommend trying the Keeley and Analogman versions first.

.If you are a Tube Screamer or pedal junkie you probably already own this, and I just picked one up recently. This really is the mother of all Tube Screamers, meaning "best of the best." I own all the other models but wanted hand wired, and prefer true bypass without having to mod it myself. I personally like 808's a little more than TS9's but often use them together for variety and new sounds. Yes, I know, you could have bought a new Chinese-made guitar, but life is short and some things should not be passed by. To be fair, though, keep in mind that you CAN have an Ethos Overdrive for $400-something and a 6-month wait time. Oh, but I do love mine. Love my Ethos, too, but that's another story!
Ibanez TS808HW Tube Screamer Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal
.I have owned the maxon OD-9, OD-808, Fulltone OCD and currently own 2 original, vintage Ibanez TS-808's. This pedal, despite the hefty price tag is worth the cash spent. It has the warmest and most transparent overdrive tone out of all the OD pedals I've owned. I thought it was funny with the brash of "mod" shops out there that try to get the original 808 sound, then Ibanez comes along and blows them all away with their own redesign of their original magic. Considering it is hand-wired by a technician, and the 808 reissue is $17 doubling the cost isn't that crazy. These are built to last. I should know, I have 2 early 80's 808's I bought new and they still work fine. GET THIS WHILE IT'S AROUND!!! IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY.
Ibanez TS808HW Tube Screamer Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal
.I've been playing for 20 + years and have spent a lot of time playing different distortion and overdrive pedals. I used an Ibanez TS9 for the past 5 years and just felt like something was lacking from my sound. I tried the Plexitone, TS808RI, Boss DS-1 and Marshal Guv'nr to name a few. Nothing came even close to the sounds I get from this pedal. I play a Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro through a Fender Deluxe Reverb RI. This pedal gives me the overdrive I've had in my head. Do yourself a favor and pick up this pedal, you will not be disappointed.
It can't get much simpler than this. Three controls (Overdrive, Tone and Level) and you really don't need a manual to understand how to use them. I like to match the effect level with the volume level of my amp on a clean setting.
It's seems to be put together to last, I just haven't owned it long enough to give this a fair rating.
At the price it is a little pricey but I do believe you get what you pay for. When you compare the quality and sound of this pedal to the originals you definitely get your monies worth.
Ibanez TS808HW Tube Screamer Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal
.I have owned several overdrives, and still own them. I have the 808HW, an Analogman King of Tone, Lovepedal Kanjii Overdrive, Fulltone OCD, and of course another Ibanez Tubescreamer. I tend to believe that all of them have a life of their own. In terms of tone, and flexibility, the TS808HW is the king. It's simple, and reliable, and gets great harmonics, and doens't sap the mid range, or give you tinny highs. If you can get one, do it, because it'll be the last one you buy.
Solid steel casing, recessed knobs, silent true bypass switching, and even comes in a solid metal box.
I'm NOT an Ibanez fan, of any sort. I do not like their products, I think their guitars are poorly made, unless you go for the Japanese made ones that are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced.(ESP Custom products being even MORE ridiculous) and the resale on most of those products should you choose to sell them is awful. They depreciate very fast. With that in mind, this pedal they got right, it's well built.
The price is a bit on the ridiculous side, but the tone you're getting out of it is pretty amazing.
Ibanez TS808HW Tube Screamer Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal
.My two favorite Overdrives. The TS808HW and the Fulltone OCD. VERY different Overdrive pedals. I play hard rock/metal. This pedal is the one I use as a 'soft' overdrive for saxophone style notes. Smooth, and articulate with a a hair of gain. Think Cliffs Of Dover tone. Nice sweeping harmonics...easy on the ears. Built like a tank(I know everyone says that) with it's solid metal casing. The true-bypass switching is as silent as it gets(typically with true bypass you're going to get a small pop of some kind because of the signal jumping wires), and the knobs are even slightly recessed so as to not boot them when switching live and altering your settings. I love the TS808HW, it's a fantastic pedal. Yes it's expensive, and they're limited. BUT it is worth it in my opinion. I keep my 1 channel Orange Amp's gain set at around 10 o'clock, and let the overdrives do the extra work. Cool thing about this pedal is if you crank the gain, it adds a brilliance to high gain applications. A great buy if you have the coin.
Ibanez TS808HW Tube Screamer Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal
.Very unsatisfied!
The warm tone on this pedal is fantastic.
Everytime I hit the switch there was a loud clicking that you can hear through my amplifier..very noticable and very poor quality. I have owned both the ts808 RI and the ts 808hw and am returning this pedal for the RI.
Not worth the money when makes a LOUD clicking sound every time you switch to distortion.
