Product Features

The purpose of the multi-scale system is to optimize the tension of each string—creating a more "alive," open tone. The different fret-to-bridge distances enhance tonality, creating a better-sounding instrument. This design not only expands harmonic complexity, but also improves playability across all six strings. The slant of the multi-scale frets ergonomically coordinates with the way a players hand angles as it moves up and down the neck—facilitating quick, comfortable playing action.

At first glance, the multi-scale-fret concept may appear a bit intimidating and unnatural, but the biggest surprise is how comfortable one becomes after a few minutes of playing the instrument. When looking down at the neck from the players’ perspective, the exaggerated fret layout seems to disappear and feels quite normal.

The AELFF10NT is a limited production multi-scale fret acoustic-electric guitar designed around a natural high-gloss finish AEL body. It features a spruce top with black body binding, an abalone rosette, rosewood back and sides, and a rosewood fretboard. A custom-angled rosewood bridge keeps the intonation in line with the angle of the highest fret. Electronics include a Fishman Sonicore pickup combined with an AEQ-SP2 preamp featuring a convenient onboard tuner.

This product is exactly what you want if you are interested in getting boutique features at a rock bottom price. If you are hunting for another acoustic with fanned frets, a built in piezo(including XLR out), and a solid body build you will be looking at well past the $1K price point if you can track one down.

Having had this guitar for well over a month now and practiced and gigged with it I can certainly recommend it to others. The bass is full and smooth while the high end is still bright, due to the multi-scale design. Having never actually played a fanned fret instrument before I was excited to get my hands on it to feel the difference. Overall though I can say the intimidating look of the fretboard is only that, just a look. I had very little trouble adapting to the feel of the frets playing open chords and barrs all around. Lead lines particularly those in the higher register took a look more getting used to, but it did not take all that much time to adjust to.

I personally enjoy the feel of the neck, it is a bit larger but not a massive "baseball bat." The finish on it also suits my preference it is a thin matte finish that is not sticky or overly glossy.

The tuning machines are Grovers and work well. They hold tune nicely even after hours of play and heavy strumming.

The combination 1/4" and XLR out is fantastic, and super convenient to go straight into a sound board. I can tell you though it is super hot and really loud on the output, you only need a little volume on the guitar to get a good signal to the board.

With all of these great features the only item that is lacking is the tuner. It is very slow to respond to changes and can make you over or under shoot your note pretty easily. The little lights on it will get you in the ball park, but not perfect. I would recommend a clip on tuner or just going into a pedal from the 1/4" output.

I really enjoy this guitar, it is unique, sounds great and is packed with features.
