Product Features

With the growing popularity of the Iron Label series, Ibanez continues to tap the seismic underworld for inspiration. Working their famous RG body shape from the “chassis” up, the RGDIX7MPB is a stunning creation of unique beauty that adds a new dimension to the brand’s no-frills “made-for-metal” lineup.

This striking 7-string electric brings a unique new air of exotic elegance to the Iron Label series. The guitar’s asymmetric, Surreal Blue Bursted, Poplar Burl top creates a sense of depth, motion and beauty reminiscent of the bluest, most placid waters of the sunlit Caribbean. Pitted against a layered Ash body, these woods combine to create a bright, almost otherworldly color scheme.

Working from the philosophy that playing comfort translates into speed and articulation, the RGDIX7MPB features a gorgeous, Birdseye Maple fretboard mounted on a 3-piece Maple/Bubinga Nitro Wizard-7 neck that both enhances playing agility and optimizes tonal clarity. The acclaimed Ibanez Gibraltar Standard II-7 bridge improves sustain and provides faultless intonation.

Specifically developed for this guitar through close collaboration between Ibanez and DiMarzio—Fusion Edge 7 pickups have been engineered to produce a powerful, distinctive tone with crisp, cutting, high end, and a tight, compressed bottom end, minus any muddy mid range. Ready for metal, the RGDIX7MPB ships from Ibanez, tuned down a full step.

The RGDIX7MPB presents yet another reason why the Ibanez Iron Label series is winning over new die-hard converts every day. Case sold separately.

Let me start by saying this is a beautiful guitar and I love the birds eye fretboard. I've always been a fan of Ibanez's wizard necks and this one plays great. It ships tuned to D and I was worried I might have to redo the intonation to bring it up to E but that hasn't been the case. I fluctuate between E, E flat and D and I haven't encountered and fret buzz or intonation issues. The Dimarzio pick ups are a huge improvement over my previous guitars EMG 85/81's, especially when tapping or during long stretches of hammer on and pull offs, it comes through loud and clear. Aside from lowering the action a bit and putting my preferred brand of lower gauge strings I haven't had to make any noteworthy adjustments. It's a fantastic guitar that I'd definitely recommend.
