As much as I love the tone from my full-sized Gigging Rig (Effects-loaded Pedaltrain PT-2 Pedalboard to SWR Mini Mo' or Interstellar Overdrive Preamp to QSC PLX 1602 600 Watt Stereo Power Amp to 2x10" and 2x12" Neo Speaker Cabinets), I would never deny its size and weight make jam sessions, smaller-sized and lightweight gigs such as Coffeehouse-type stages simply not workable with that signal chain. And so for a while I've been on the lookout for a single-speaker/high-wattage Class-D combo amp in the realm of the Markbass, Gallien-Krueger & Genz Benz Class D under 10-lb "Micro Amp" and 10"/12" Neo Speaker (as opposed to the more common low-wattage 8"-to-10" "Bedroom Practice Amp" that are typically a Bassist's first amp. And when a MF.com Promotion knocked 1/6th off the price of the Promethean P3110 300 Watt 1x10" amp, I decided to try it out.

...and I must say, I was frankly amazed in the sonic and build quality of this Amp along with it's extremely loud Power Amp, lightweight design (23 lbs - the 37 lb number on the listing is its Shipping Weight and not its unpacked weight). The amps' "interface" is simple yet easy to get a great tone: Input Gain, 3-Band Low/Mid/High EQ section, a Midrange-cutting "Phat" control that's useful for Slap-style playing, and a Master Volume. In addition it had a 1-button Limiter curcuit to protect the speaker from the frankly overpowered Amp, an Aux-In for practicing with iPod or computer output, a Headphone-Out which shuts off the speaker output when used, a Tweeter Cut switch for a more "vintage" tone. But for myself the best feature is the 300 watts that the Amp can reach, which makes it usable in a live setting with other instruments.

Having played a good portion of Markbass' line of similar small-but-powered lightweight combos, the Ibanez Promethean comes extremely close to sound and functions of the above as well as G-K's line of combos and Class D Heads & 1x10" cabinets. It's a shame that Ibanez seems to be abandoning this line of amps, as by all accounts shine in my eyes.
Ibanez Promethean P3110 300W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp Black
.Great, powerful, portable amp! By itself, it'll hold its own at a band rehearsal. Plug it into an extension cab to really open up the low end. Take it to a gig where you have PA support and you're good to go, thanks to the XLR out. Love it!
Ibanez Promethean P3110 300W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp Black
.Every amp has it's purpose. I needed a small light, yet reasonably powerful bass amp to travel with overseas. This amp fits the bill. It is small enough to fit in an airline overhead or simply put in the under storage. Get the optional gig bag for this. This amp has a very strong, excellent sound through a 10'' speaker and a horn. I was amazed at how powerful this amp is. It is much more than just another practice amp. It can hold it's own and you can add other speakers if you wish. The 300 watt head can put out some deep lows and bright highs. My only complaint is that it does not have a dual voltage switch on the back for Europe and the rest of the world. I had to buy an external converter for this. I looked at a number of other amps for my travel purposes and they were either too big and heavy or they had low wattage output. Thanks Ibanez for this very versatile little package.

.I bought this amp primarily for a home practice amp. I tried one out at a local music store and was really impressed with the great plug and play tone. It really has a nice phat tone that really inspires you to play. It handles the low "B" extremely well and can be really cranked up without distortion. Very tight and punchy.
I've got a separate amp and cabinet for larger gigs and didn't purchase it with the intent of adding another cabinet for larger gigs. IMO combos just work better and are really designed to be used standalone. Adding another cabinet just defeats the purpose of having a combo.

.The voicing of this amp is very deliberate and cool sounding. I like the simple preamp and the "Phat" control. The tweeter is defeatable. But overall, the amp has a warm, woody tone with a bias for classic bass tones vs hi-fi scooped sounds. It can do a the hi-fi thing with some tweaking. The build quality and aesthetics have a cool form factor. It has a usable DI output. The co-ax soft dome tweeter is smooth and point source and very listenable. The small cabinet is ported for efficiency but seems tuned higher for better output. I play a 36" scale 5 string with low B and the cab doesn't normally distort. Of course, if you turn it up too loud, max out active bass circuits or just misuse it, it will distort. I have powered it with a custom extension 112 cab (8ohm) and can tell you its power rating is true. It's a great little amp and an entry level price. Sure, you can spend more on the compact offerings from Phil Jones Bass, Mark Bass, etc. I would suggest this for people playing small venues, recording, practice etc. Stack it on a bigger cab and you got plenty of volume. It's basically a usable amp in the size of a practice amp for not much more coin.

.I did my research and read all the positive reviews and decided to purchase this combo amp. Although I like the size and probability, I was very disappointed with the sound quality. I thought I had a defected unit, so I exchanged it for another one and had the same results. Even at a low volume the 10" speaker produce a distorted sound and obviously couldn't handle the low B on my 5-string bass. The sound quality was absolutely terrible. Needless to say, I was very disappointed with this rig. I don't think I could've received two defected combo amps. So I'm assuming that this is not a high quality bass combo amp. I was very pleased with Custom Guitars Friend customer service and return policy. I would not recommend this combo amp.
Ibanez Promethean P3110 300W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp Black
.I bought this amp, and immediately returned it. Maybe this one was a lemon, but it could not even handle lower notes at all. I really wanted this amp to work out, after reading all the positive reviews, I was crushed by the overall pitiful sound. This amp was worthless to me, and I don't even play loud at all.
Ibanez Promethean P3110 300W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp Black
.This unit is easy to set up like the small peavy amp I have but the difference with this one is the power it gives you doing performing. So much That you have tone it down some based on the type of room you're you're playing.
Ibanez Promethean P3110 300W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp Black
.It's very rare for me to review any equipment but this purchase warrants one. When I first researched the Promethean P3110 I found no convincing reviews and one video that was a bit scary. The specs showed 300w so I figured if I can get half that without distortion it's worth it for small rehearsals. I got the combo in and the next day brought it to a rehearsal. Well I was surprised because this amp is the smallest combo I own and it did the job. I used a Ken Smith 5 string and had to work on the EQ a bit, but I was able to get the low B without distortion. No one complained about the bass volume so this little guy sits next to my Ampeg waiting for its turn again. A little pricy but worth the portability.
Ibanez Promethean P3110 300W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp Black
.For a small amp it has some power..very punchy sound that I love..very light perfect for small jam sessions. I don't recommend using it for a full band .but perfect to jam at home.....
