Product Features

As evidenced by its long-standing association with such giants of jazz guitar as George Benson, Pat Metheny, and John Scofield, Ibanez has been a constant pioneer in the world of hollow-body guitar building for more than three decades. Part of that legacy is owed to the Artcore collection, which has succeeded in smashing any and all preconceptions in its wake as to what a great hollow or semi-hollow ought to be.

The Artcore formula builds on equal parts luthiery know-how, daring design, and a passion for warm, full-bodied tone. The AF71 will be appreciated by players who dread taking his or her expensive custom built instrument to the beer ˜n' a shot bar gig. Under its refined black-with-white-binding, AF71 features a select-grade Maple top, back, and sides.

The fingerboard is warm bound Rosewood, contrasted by brilliant pearl block inlays. The Artcore Mahogany neck has proven its reliability on thousands of Ibanez hollow and semi-hollow bodies throughout the years. AMH1 pickup is moderate output, feedback suppressing, and warm in tone yet very responsive.

Very well made. Looks great. Easy to play. Neck feels right. Body isn't too big but still has mellow tone you want in this style of guitar.

.For the price it's a good backup, practice, or second guitar. My main complaint the guitar body is too light. The neck and headstock tilts down while you are playing. Especially if you are standing up playing. If you are sitting down it's okay. If you stand and play you have to use a guitar strap with a string attached to the headstock instead of strapping at the body strap button. For me other than that issue it's a good value. It's a beautiful guitar. It looks like a high end guitar. They should have balance the neck and body better. I have a Les Paul and if you've played one it's just the opposite, the body is too heavy. Thanks for reading my review. Hope this will help you in making a choice. I've been playing guitars for a while and I'm very picky about every aspect of a guitar and I have every style imaginable.

set up was terrible. the intonation screws in the bridge were loose, neck had to be adjusted, had to raise the bridge really high to kill the fret buzz. the first time I plugged in to an amp the thing buzzed until you put your fingers on the strings to ground it. I returned it and as always MF customer service was great.
save your money and buy a higher end model. I ended up getting a AFL95 which is a much better guitar.

.This is a tremendous value for an arch top that has great tone and looks fantastic. Yes, the setup wasn't dead-on, but what arch top is that's delivered through the mail? And it's so easy to setup yourself... like the truss rod cover has a hinge. You don't even have to take out the screws. Besides, everyone puts on new strings especially with a jazz guitar because they never come with flat wounds. So get new flat wound strings, adjust the rod, set the bridge where it should be (centered on the f holes), set the height base on the string size and then adjust the intonation with the TOM bridge. Perfect. And you'll love the tone and playability.
