Cosmo black hardware adds a hint of stealth.
At the heart of the SR305E’s electronics are two PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups. Their stainless pole pieces offer higher output, clarity, and fullness than any in the SR305’s class. Accessed by the 3-way “Power Tap” switch, these proprietary pickups offer a choice of three tonal personalities: A rich humbucker sound, a pure single-coil sound, or an enhanced single coil sound— fattened by lows from the humbucker pickups. Got the Pearl one as open box for 350 searched for any imperfections. The only thing I found is the nut came unglued nice I'll fix that for 5 lol what a deal. Instrument is amazing. Tone feel playability. Just awesome 9 pickup settings and then the three band eq. Just wow not as a complaint. But the black Cosmo hardware is is much darker than pic like a gunmetal chrome glad it wasn't as silver as pic looks killer against the Pearl white (metallic ) pis do it no justiceIbanez SR305E 5-String Bass Pearl White
.I have used this bass on a few Latin gigs, indoor and outdoor, with a percussion section and horns covering salsa to timba to samba to bogaloo with solid results. The sound cuts through better than my P bass. The neck is sleek and no dead notes with multi-laminate neck! The B string is pretty tight for a 34" scale, not as tight as 35" scale though. The bass took a few days to set up to get the action a little higher and get rid of the buzzes with the low action from the factory. You get good pickups with a decent pre-amp and the pickup coil tap which is nice. I prefer the clean sound of the single coil setting, but rock and metal guys might like the humbucker/power tap settings which is louder and darker sounding. Overall a great bargain in this price range, solid craftsmanship.
