MF packed nicely and shipped promptly as usual.
This guitar feels excellent in the hands and the finish and detail work by Ibanez is top notch. Came set up perfectly with spot on intonation and medium low action from the factory, just tuned and played (which is a first for any guitar I've ever bought)
Pickups are a great PAF tone and the tri-tone switch is nice addition that adds even more versatility. It's got such a great full sound that rivals any other semi-hollow I've picked up.... speaking of.
I A/B compared to a Gibson es335 dot before purchase. The tone was very similar between the two. Body shape and comfort nearly identical but Ibanez has a slimmer more comfy neck (personal preference I know). Fit and finish hands down to the Ibanez; the gibson just looks cut rate in comparison. Overall the Ibanez is a better feeling, looking and sounds just as good as the Gibson es 335. Plus, wait for it.... 1500$ less. But the Gibson does have the name Gibson on it.. Lol, for all that's worth these days.

Give my Ibanez 153 and let me play!

.If you want tone, good action, versatility, and good looks, this is it! I have looked at this model for years. I thought I could get away with the AM 93. Not in the same league! I bought this guitar as a second to my LGB 30. I play Blues and Rock as well as Smooth Jazz on my solo gigs. The LGB covers a lot, but it is a Jazz / R&B instrument. The AM 153 picks up the slack. The combination of the Ebony fret board and Super 58 pickups is wonderful. The feel and action are great. Ibanez guitars are pleasantly different. The sound is unique. I like Gibson guitars and have several. But Ibanez gives me a tonal difference that separates me from the pack. I just returned a new 2014 model Gibson Les Paul Futura. The thing had more twist in the neck than a pretzel. Do yourself a favor and buy a real guitar. Oh yeah, it's a great looking instrument!! I was torn between a good or excellent rating. It is so much better than just good, I had to go with excellent.

.this is the third guitar that I am sending back in a row (see my review of the les paul 50s tribute). When I received the am153 I first noticed that the case was separating in several places on the outside then realized that the fake fur/padding was loose in several places on the inside. Little later I noticed that the green portion of the third fret marker was not flush with the rest of the inlay and fret board to the point that my finger caught on the raised edge when bending notes. I really wanted to like this guitar but it just wasn't acceptable. Maybe Im out of line but I think that when you pay a thousand for a guitar it should be right.

.You can spend $6000 on a Gibson and still get a plywood guitar, this instrument is made out of solid wood with electronics not available on most guitars from the factory, I'm referring to the 3 position mini switch that let's you make the neck pickup single coil, double coil or out of phase with itself. Matching wood pick guard, rounded fret ends, beautifully grained wood, nice fret board inlay, solid hard shell case, good feel make this guitar a welcome tool for the working musician. I have to say that I sent the 1st one back because a pick up was not properly placed, the replacement I was sent was fine.
Ibanez Artstar Series AM153 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar Dark Brown
.This is a very beautiful and well built guitar. I decided on this guitar primarly because of it's size (es-339 style) in comparison to the full sized semi-hollowbodies on the market that didn't cost $3k. I couldn't be happier! I own a couple high end american made guitars and I can honestly say this guitar is comparable in regards to attention to detail and finish. Don't let it fool you based on where it's made, this is a well made guitar. Right out of the box the neck was perfectly straight and, once I tuned it up, 1 string was intonated a pinch sharp. The others were perfect! The action was set on the lower side which is where I like it! The frets were perfect at that action as well. Nicely rounded and no ends sticking out. The 10-52s resonate very well. The case is form fitting and doesn't take up much space. Overall, I'm very happy with this guitar.

.A variety of tones can be achieved with this guitar. It's drop dead gorgeous. The neck is super fast and smooth. It's hard to believe that Ibanez's Prestige series are supposed to be even finer as this model closes in on perfection.
