I bought this cheap bass in order to record bass lines. I am primarily a guitarist and was a little bit tired of using samples to record bass lines. This bass does the job impeccably.

It is light weight, which means notes are going to vibrate in a different way due to the reduced mass or density of the wood in comparison with a heavy bass, but with a good reverb and eq the problem is solved easily and my back does not hurt after practicing and recording. Anyway basses have different characters, like guitars, there is the Rickenbacker sound, the Hofner sound, etcetera, this bass has its own sound which is good. Music is a creative activity, not a copy and paste hobby.

It came with the action too low, so I used the Allen key that comes with the bass. It took 15 minutes to raise the action to a normal playing without fret noise. I don't use a pick only fingers and I have big hands, now it sounds beautiful, smooth and clear.

The Phat EQ is great to add power, volume and life to the notes. For the fact that I raised the action, I did the same with the pickups, it took me another 15 minutes of trial and error, measuring the distance with a ruler and following the instructions provided in the manual.

A great and fun bass for what I need. It has a smooth neck.

.I picked up this bass because my college jazz combo didn't have a bassist and I wanted something cheaper that could serve my purposes. I own Ibanez guitars and knew of their workmanship so I trusted this brand. The bass performed way better than I anticipated. This bass feels great and because of the thinner neck profile, my hands don't tire out, even after hours of playing. The Phat EQ knob is a great feature that really lets you shape your tone along with the two pickup knobs. I get a great sound for jazz even playing with a pick. I can also get a great punchy sound for different genres like punk and metal.

.I have played bass for 45 years. I have a Fender JP90, Fernandez thunderbird copy (circa 1985) and an older P-bass. This bass is a joy to play. It is light and well balanced. The neck is almost as slim as a 6 string electric guitar and the frets are smooth. Sound is flexable due to the combination of both J and P pickups. Phat Bass boost works well and I run it at about 1/3 all of the time. Set up was really good, intonation on point and the D'Addario strings are sweet. I play through a Fender BXR 300 combo . I would reccomend this bass to any one!

.Really enjoying this bass. The walnut finish is classy and the sounds are great. The shorter neck is perfect for my smaller hands. I had another experienced bass player work it over and he was very surprised at how much bass you get for the money.

.This thing weighs next to nothing, and the "mahogany" feels plastic to the touch. It sounds good, plays good, and even looks good, but just feels kinda cheap. Then again, it is cheap. It serves my purpose well though. I just need a bass to lay down tracks for recording jam tracks for my guitars. It's excellent for that.
