First and foremost, I'm glad that Schecter decided to do a run of this guitar. The Blackjack ATX series is, hands down, one of Schecter's best lines, and this guitar is absolutely no exception. The neck is thin while still feeling substantial in the player's hand, the satin finish providing a near frictionless surface this guitar a joy to play. The color is not as bright as what is pictured. In fact, I had to get it under some really heavy light to truly appreciate the red, but it is stunning. The wood grain is dark, almost black, and the red is almost like someone painted the guitar with blood, it's just that rich.

The Seymour Duncan Blackouts in this guitar scream, but active pickups aren't my preference. In time, I will replace them with a passive set, probably a Nazgul / Sentient set.

On top of all of this, this guitar resonates like no other. Schecter says this is a set neck, and I believe them, but you can't even feel the neck joint, let alone see it. This makes upper fret access ridiculously easy. If you hit the strings hard enough, this guitar will hum for what seems like forever.

I cannot recommend this guitar enough. Please, if you are in the market for a Schecter, or just a guitar that looks like an SG but doesn't have questionable quality control. Go with this one. The only blemish I found on mine was the tiniest scratch on the neck binding, bass side, behind the twelfth fret. You will not be disappointed.
