I bought this mixer because of the XLR main outs to use in conjunction with my PreSonus FireStudio. Down at my rehearsal space we run all our vocal mics into Logic Pro X to take advantage of the EQ, Vocal FX, etc before sending the vocals to the PA. The PreSonus FireStudio only has Line Outs on the back of the unit and our PA Speakers only had XLR inputs. So rather than use adapters or XLR to 1/4 cables, which have caused noise distortion in the past, we used this Mixer to run the FireStudio to the PA Mains. It worked like it should and didn't give us any issues with extra cable noise. If your in a similar situation i would recommend this .

.I also own this model's bigger sibling, the MG10XU 10-Channel Mixer. Wanted something I could use for a solo act that would be a little more portable. This item fits the bill nicely. It's small enough to mount on a mic stand (I use a boom attachment on my main stand so I don't have to carry an extra stand) and has the same preamps, etc. as its big brother.

I run the output to a pair of Electro Voice ZAXA81 powered speakers. Inputs are either a Shure SM58 or Audio-Technica AE5400 mic through one channel, and a Taylor 714-CE with a K&K mini pickup through the other. All get excellent sound through the MG06-X. Regarding effects, I only use a touch of reverb; this unit's sounds fine to me.

There are a three points to consider if you're looking at the MG06x vs other choices. 1.) The MG06 does not have a midrange EQ control. 2.) Its effects are relatively limited. (You only get three reverb and three delay choices). 3.) There are no pan controls on the channels. Instead, a push button select switch allows you to choose between mono and stereo modes.

For me, these limitations weren't an issue. Overall, I've found this to be a very reasonably priced, good-sounding, and portable unit. I'd buy it again.

.I found this was the perfect compliment to my pedal-board. I like the fact that I can put my XLR in and out to maximize the signal in such a compact area (one for vocals the other for guitar stuff). Really, went for this gadget mostly because it gives me the chance to have everything connected in one spot (just hit the power button in the power strip and everything is ready to go). It also allows me to have up to two more people to plug in. The effects are clear and very easy to use. I will likely get another one, for the next pedal-board. It makes life so much easier, to have it already calibrated to my liking before it shares one output. I added a picture to show how it worked out for me. I don't know why I haven't thought of this before.

Yamaha MG06X 6-Channel Mixer
.I recently began playing out as a solo act and needed a small mixer. This board is used with a Mackie powered speaker. My voice has one channel and my guitar in the other. The sound is crystal clear, no noise, amazingly adjustable through the EQs and desirable. The mixer itself has been reliable for over twenty shows in two months and is compact enough to fit in my harmonica case. Do not be afraid to purchase this mixer. is a great name of accountability. I do not carry a backup board and feel there is no need to have one with the MG06X. The price was reasonable and well worth it.

.Bought 38 days ago. Acoustic duo and Trio..Love it. Blasts my sure SM7B and is easy to use. 10 shows so far. Fits in my mic case. If you want small, ease of use and powerful preamp this is the right mixer for you... and the price is right....

.I have been in the music and entertainment business over 40 years and my new MG06X has been a great solution for smaller "one-man-show" type gigs. I can mix my vocals, keyboard and laptop and still have room to patch in other musicians who may want to sit in with me.

.I used this mixer for a live set recently. I play electronic music live and needed a small mixer to use for my Mics, Synths, and Laptop output. It worked well with that I was using and will definitely be using it from now on in my performances.
Yamaha MG06X 6-Channel Mixer
.Ive been using this mixer for about two months with a Kustom 10" speaker and an AKG D8000M for rehearsal and Im very pleased with the sound. The PAD, HPF, and FX switches are useful and the effects (namely voice echo) sound great. This is a great mixer for light processing of live vocals. Wouldn't be too useful for recording purposes.
