I bought this amp because I have a THR10, and figured that this model would be good enough for my traveler guitar.It works fine with humbuckers & electric guitar pickups, just note that the THR5A cannot handle low-pitched strings, due to the inability to shelve/cut off the bass (only a tone-control is on this unit). The circuitry is overdriven when low-pitched notes on strings are struck.
Also, the speakers aren't capable of producing low notes at volumes louder than halfway on the unit.
I have a Godin A6, with a humbucker AND piezo pickups. The piezo pickup sounds wonderful on this amp.
With all of the available modeling amps on this unit, this amp is tailored for acoustic guitars equipped with acoustic pickups & etc.
Not loud enough, even for practice.
Also needs an xlr output, for house pa-systems.
Great hi-fidelity (except for low-pitch notes).
The LED's make it absolutely beautiful, especially when playing in the dark!
Can't beat the usb output for computers!

.this amp is just what it is described as. Great sound that is portable. I use it with my Silent Steel string and the sounds is great. On the go in small settings it is enough as is. In worship services with a full band I use it as pre amp the runs into a monitor and then into the house system. Works great both ways..

.Great clear sound with some nice acoustic effects. It is plenty loud for a small venue. I use it with a chambered hollow body tenor uke with a MiSi pickup. Sounds terrific with a little chorus and echo.

.Thr amps are great. Sounds amazing. Decent vol from a 10w amp. Acoustic sounds at home are more fun with reverb and mic sim. I own the thr5, thr5a and thr10x because I was so impressed with this amp.

.I have a large acoustic and a large electric guitar amp - if I am going to be serious in a large gathering, I will take either or both of those. However, in a quiet normal size classroom, where I don't want to lug the heavy amps in each week, this little amp is perfect. I also use it for small practice sessions or small jams with a few friends. Sound quality is absolutely amazing, both for my acoustic guitars and my electrics, including a Gibson Les Paul. Hard to believe they are 3 inch speakers - certainly sound deep and clear - not even remotely tinny.

.If you play at home it is a must have. The 5A does an amazing job of reproducing stage quality sound at living room volumes. The character of my archtop and flat top acoustics shine through while giving plenty of room for variation in tone and effects. It simply makes low wattage practice amps obsolete. The cord pop when unplugging was a bit annoying but if you activate the tuner it prevents it from making the noise.
